Starbucks, Lowe’s and Target contribute to Japan relief effort
Minneapolis -- Starbucks, Lowe’s and Target are among the U.S. retail chains donating money to the relief effort that is assisting victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The Starbucks Foundation and Starbucks Coffee Japan will contribute approximately $1.2 million) to aid immediate humanitarian and relief efforts.

The announcement was made at the third annual Dress for Success day of service in New York City.

Toys"R"Us donates $500K to support children and families affected by Japan earthquake

WAYNE, N.J. -- The Toys"R"Us Children's Fund announced that it has donated $500,000 donation to Save the Children to help provide relief to children and families impacted by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and devastating tsunami that recently struck the northeast coast of Japan.
Walmart dumps the extra waste

BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Walmart announced it has eliminated more than 80% of the waste that would go to landfills from its operations in California by implementing a comprehensive waste reduction program. The results far exceed national average where EPA estimates only 45% of waste is diverted from landfills and the California rate of 65%.

The program is now being rolled out across the chain’s 4,400 stores, Sam’s Club locations and distribution centers in the United States, moving the retailer closer to its global goal of creating zero waste.

The publication indicated that a person familiar with the situation said service on the Goldman board demanded significantly more time than Scott had anticipated.

Victoria's Secret expands PINK MLB line

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Victoria's Secret announced that it has expanded its partnership with Major League Baseball Properties to include 12 new teams for its line of co-branded (VS) PINK merchandise. The spring 2011 collection will feature the Arizona Diamondbacks, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, 2010 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals.
Report: Food prices in biggest jump since 1974

New York City -- The Labor Department’s Producer Price Index rose last month, primarily due to higher energy costs and the biggest rise in food prices in 36 years, USA Today reported.

Food prices rose 3.9% last month, the highest increase since November 1974.

The steep rise was due, in large part, to higher vegetable costs, which were up nearly 50%.
