  • The Container Store makes market debut

    The Container Store began trading on the New York Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol “TCS.” Expectations were high: On Thursday, the retailer set its IPO price at $18 per share, higher than the originally-expected range of $14 to $16 per share.

    The company is offering all 12.5 million shares of common stock, with an additional 1.9 million shares 30-day purchase option for the underwriters.

     

     

  • OfficeMax to open most locations at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day

    OfficeMax has joined the growing list of retailers that plan on opening most of its stores at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving, ahead of Black Friday. The office supplies, technology and business services retailer will entice consumers with doorbuster deals and significant Black Friday savings at OfficeMax.com starting at 12:01 a.m. EST Thanksgiving morning.

    The OfficeMax Black Friday shopping event will run through Saturday, Nov. 30, in stores and online.

  • Neiman Marcus teams up with 3D printing company in holiday offer

    New York -- Neiman Marcus and 3D printing marketplace Shapeways have teamed together to offer a limited holiday collection.

    The collection consists of two pieces available in Shapeways’ 3D Printed metal finishes: A monogrammed silver heart pendant necklace that can be customized with initials, and an orb stainless steel sculpture paperweight. Both items are made by Shapeways' 3D Printing and feature its prin.

  • J.C. Penney earns Energy Star certification for over 500 stores

    Plano, Texas -- J.C. Penney has secured Energy Star certifications in over 500 stores, one supply chain facility and its home office, far surpassing the company’s initial goal of having 400 locations certified by the end of 2013. (The Environmental Protection Agency awards Energy Star certification to buildings that rank within the top 25% of similar commercial buildings nationwide by meeting strict energy performance levels set by the EPA.)

  • J.Jill unveils new retail store design

    Specialty retailer J.Jill is preparing to roll out a redesigned store concept in four markets across the United States.

    "The new approach to store design is based on our understanding of what is important to our customers. We want to delight her with our beautiful, versatile collections and inspire her confidence with our guiding service," said CEO and president Paula Bennett. "The new stores offer her a very warm welcome."

  • Revlon appoints new CEO

    Revlon has appointed former Colomer Group executive Lorenzo Delpani as the company’s president and CEO.

    Delpani replaces David Kennedy, who served briefly as Revlon’s interim CEO since the recent departure of CEO Alan Ennis, who left the company to “pursue other interests.” Kennedy will continue to serve as Revlon’s vice chairman.
