  • PwC US: Top 10 trends that will drive holiday shopping

    New York -- Cautious spending and economic realities that are bifurcating the American holiday shopper into two distinct segments are two of the 10 trends that are expected to drive the 2014 holiday shopping season, according to a new report from PwC US and Strategy.

  • Amazon expands seller holiday deals program worldwide

    For the first time in its history, Amazon will feature top deals from sellers on holiday deal pages worldwide. The holiday deals from sellers will now appear on the Amazon Today’s Deals page, Black Friday Store, Cyber Monday Store and many other high customer traffic site features.

  • Stage Stores enters $350 million credit facility

    Houston - Stage Stores Inc. has entered into an amended and restated $350 million senior secured revolving credit facility that will mature on Oct. 6, 2019. The credit facility replaces the company’s former $250 million senior secured revolving credit facility, which was set to mature on June 30, 2016.

  • Target developing pharmacy app

    Target is completely revamping its app, while also working on a new one for pharmacy.

    “We view mobile as the new front door to Target,” says Jason Goldberger, SVP of Target.com and mobile, was quoted as saying in the company’s newsletter, A Bullseye View. “We’re launching a host of significant enhancements and updates to Target’s mobile offerings — making it easier than ever for guests to shop Target.”

  • Havertys Q3 sales rise 3%; plans four new stores

    Atlanta - Havertys sales for the third quarter of fiscal 2014 increased 3% to $198.5 million, compared with $192.7 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2013. Same-store sales increased 3.5%.

    Havertys plans to open four new stores by the end of the year. Clarence H. Smith, chairman, president and CEO of Havertys, said sales for the quarter did not meet expectations.

  • NRF: Holiday sales to rise 4%

    Washington, D.C. - The National Retail Federation (NRF) expects sales in November and December (excluding autos, gas and restaurant sales) to increase a healthy 4% to $616.9 billion, higher than 2013’s actual 3% increase during that same time frame. This would mark the first time since 2011 that holiday sales would increase more than 4%.

  • Survey: 62% of shoppers want live chat with brands on mobile devices

    Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Sixty-two percent of consumers expect live chat to be available on mobile devices, and 82% would use it, according to a new study commissioned by Moxie Software. Seventy-five percent of survey respondents stated that they would prefer to use live online chat versus calling to speak with an agent.

  • Hasbro unveils My Little Pony-branded Pez dispensers and candy line

    Hasbro has signed a global licensing agreement with Pez International to develop a My Little Pony-branded line of Pez dispensers, Pez dextrose fizzy candy and fizzy rolls.

    Hasbro will begin rolling out the new line beginning in early 2015 in Germany, France and Austria followed by additional markets worldwide. The new dispensers and candy will be on display at Hasbro Booth #D020 at Brand Licensing Europe in Olympia, London, October 7-9.
