New website provides one-stop hub for gift card givers
Digital gift cards from over 100 brands, including major financial networks, are for sale in a full-service digital mall.
Global payments technology company InComm Payments is launching TheGiftCardShop.com. The site features digital gift cards from Visa, Mastercard, and American Express; as well as multi-store gift card and national retailers including Darden Restaurants, Delta, GameStop, Lowe's, Macy's, and PlayStation Store. Denominations range between $5 and $500, depending on the brand.
TheGiftCardShop.com enables customers to send digital gift cards directly to recipients via email. Customers also have the option to select occasion-specific designs and include a personal message. By the end of 2021, the site will begin offering delivery of physical gift cards to recipients' mailing addresses.
American Express, Visa, and Mastercard gift cards will be loadable to a mobile wallet, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. The mobile wallet platforms use a token service in which each transaction is authorized with a one-time, unique, dynamic security code to ensure transaction security. Customers will have access to advanced wallet-based security and authentication systems to approve payments.
According to data analytics company InMarket, the average shopper spent 17.6% more on gift cards in 2020 compared with 2019. Gift cards have become popular enough that in January 2021, the second annual “National Use Your Gift Card Day” shopping holiday took place https://chainstoreage.com/shopping-holiday-gift-card-holders-returns.
"We're excited to launch this hub to support consumers' gifting needs," said Adam Brault, senior VP, financial services, InComm Payments. "The site will feature our brand partners in a convenient, accessible way that will meet consumer demand for digital options and instant redemption for recipients."
