ModCloth celebrates independence with flexible payments

An online indie and vintage-inspired women’s apparel retailer is providing customers with an installment option.

ModCloth is partnering with global payments provider Klarna to enable customers to make purchases in four equal installments with no interest. Customers can use Klarna’s buy-now, pay-later service when shopping the retailer’s entire fashion collection and full range of sizes. 

Walmart purchased the startup in March 2017 and sold it to brand investment platform Go Global Retail in October 2019. Initially founded in 2002, ModCloth operates as a freestanding, independent brand.

“As a digitally native brand we are excited to expand and evolve our online shopping experience through our partnership with Klarna,” said Jeff Streader, co-CEO of ModCloth. “We believe that our core customer craves diversity and flexibility in her shopping journey and we are happy to provide new purchasing options for the styles that she loves.”

Other major retailers who have deployed Klarna’s online installment payment solution include Sephora, Hibbett Sports, Abercrombie & Fitch, Rue 21, and H&M.
