    Retail Cloud Technologies is the name of a new retail software solutions company created by Dallas entrepreneur Chad Willis and software developer Michael Mauerer.

  • Motorola survey finds tech investments boost customer satisfaction

    Scaumburg, Ill. - Overall in-store satisfaction has grown 23% in the last six years. Meanwhile, the annual Motorola Solutions Holiday Shopping study shows that satisfaction with the checkout process and the availability of store associates has increased 32% and 23% respectively since 2008.

  • RadioShack pops up at Penn Station

    RadioShack has opened its newest Manhattan location as a popup concept store at Penn Station. The limited-time-only location is the third RadioShack popup store to open in Manhattan.
     
    In addition, RadioShack has opened a total of eight concept stores in the Manhattan area. The newest popup opened five days after construction began.

  • Target data breach may affect 40 million customers

    Minneapolis – Target confirmed that it suffered a major data breach that may have affected as many as 40 million credit and debit card transactions at Target stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15. Target said the information included customer name, credit or debit card number, and the card’s expiration date and CVV (the three-digit security code).

  • Rite Aid Q3 income jumps; to add 300 new GNC LiveWell in-store shops

    Camp Hill, Pa. – Rite Aid reported a solid 15.5% increase in net income during the third quarter of fiscal 2013, to $71.5 million from $61.9 million in the year ago period.  Lower interest expense and lease termination and impairment charges helped drive Rite Aid’s net income growth.

    In addition, revenues grew about 2% to $6.4 billion from $6.2 billion, primarily due to a 3.5% increase in pharmacy same store sales. Same-store sales rose 2.3%.

  • Pier 1 continues reaping omnichannel strategy rewards

    Pier 1 is touting the progress it’s made with its 1 Pier 1 omnichannel strategy, following financial results for the third quarter. Pier1.com continued to outperform the company’s expectations with increases in traffic and conversion, and representing more than 4% of total sales in the quarter.

  • Shopkick partners with Sports Authority

    Englewood, Colo. -- Shopkick has partnered with Sports Authority. All Shopkick users will earn "kicks" just for walking in, browsing special offers throughout the store, scanning products and making purchases at Sports Authority store locations.

  • Report: Samsung hires Apple store designer

    San Jose, Calif. – Samsung has reportedly hired a high-level store designer from Apple. According to multiple media reports, the U.S., telecom unit of Samsung recently hired Tim Gudgel, a five-year veteran store designer at Apple, as VP and GM of retail sales operations.
