  • Target names top digital cop

    Target has bolstered its digital security efforts with the appointment of former General Motors and General Electric executive Brad Maiorino to the newly created role of SVP and chief information security officer.

  • Lowe’s names Ramsay CIO

    Mooresville, N.C. — Paul D. Ramsay has been promoted to CIO of Lowe’s Companies Inc., effective immediately. He has been serving as acting CIO since March.  

  • Casey’s COO takes on additional role as president

    Ankeny, Iowa — Casey’s General Stores reported that the board of directors elected Terry W. Handley to serve as president of the Company, effective immediately.  He  will continue to serve in his present role of COO.

  • Lowe's taps new information chief

    Lowe's has named Paul D. Ramsay as chief information officer, effective immediately. Ramsay, who has been serving as acting CIO since March, will report to Richard D. Maltsbarger, who was himself appointed chief development officer. 

    Ramsay is responsible for day-to-day operations of Lowe's IT organization, including the continued development of a technology portfolio designed to seamlessly support the operations of the company's stores, distribution network, e-commerce platforms and future business technology needs. 

  • Trademark expands Saddle Creek in Memphis suburbs

    Fort Worth, Texas — Trademark Property Co. is managing the major expansion and renovation of Saddle Creek in the Memphis, Tenn., suburb of Germantown.

    Demolition has commenced on 20,000 sq. ft. of existing space on the southwest side of Poplar Avenue and West Street, with work scheduled to begin soon on 40,000 sq. ft. of new retail space for that area.

  • Study: Mobile POS grows rapidly in retail

    Franklin, Tenn. — Overall, mobile technology has created a roughly $8 billion industry in retail/hospitality worldwide, with POS a major factor. According to a new study from IHL Research, “Mobile POS: Reaching Escape Velocity – All Systems Go,” tablet POS systems are growing at a more than 300% rate in specialty retailers compared to 2013 levels.

  • Urban Outfitters opens 57,000-sq.-ft “lifestyle” destination store in Manhattan

    Philadelphia — Urban Outfitters has opened a “lifestyle center” store,  in Manhattan’s Herald Square neighborhood. The 57,000-sq.ft. store is the brand’s largest location to date, and its13th store in New York City. It includes such extras as a hair salon, bookshop, coffee bar and photography shop that lets shoppers print their photos from Instagram.

  • Weis Markets grows online shopping footprint

    Weis Markets plans to offer online shopping with in-store pick-up at its Fogelsville store beginning June 8.
