  • Kroger gets EPA's green badge of honor

    Kroger has gotten the ultimate green seal of approval from the EPA.

    The federal government has announced that Kroger is the only grocery retailer to be granted elite Energy Star Certification status by the EPA.

    "Kroger is committed to reducing our impact on the environment, and our Energy Star certified buildings have delivered energy and cost savings as well as reduce our carbon footprint," said Keith Oliver, Kroger's VP for facility engineering. "We are pleased to help our partners at the EPA celebrate 15 years of Energy Star certifications."

  • Study: NFC-enabled mobile payments to total $130 billion by 2020

    BOSTON - Payments made via near field communications (NFC)-enabled mobile handsets will account for $130 billion in worldwide consumer retail spend by 2020, according to a study by Strategy Analytics. This equates to 254 million mobile users making five payments per month at an average of just below $9 per transaction.

  • RadioShack names consultant new interim CFO

    Fort Worth, Texas – Struggling consumer electronics retailer RadioShack Corp. has named Carlin Adrianopoli, a consultant with strategic advisory and interim management services firm FTI Consulting, as its new interim CFO. Adrianopoli replaces Alix Partners managing director Holly Etlin, who was named interim CFO in September 2014 to replace previous CFO John Feray after he resigned.
