  • J.Jill unveils new retail store design

    Specialty retailer J.Jill is preparing to roll out a redesigned store concept in four markets across the United States.

    "The new approach to store design is based on our understanding of what is important to our customers. We want to delight her with our beautiful, versatile collections and inspire her confidence with our guiding service," said CEO and president Paula Bennett. "The new stores offer her a very warm welcome."

  • Barnes & Noble offering new Nook

    New York -- Nook Media LLC, a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, Inc., is releasing the new Nook GlowLight e-reader.

    At 6.2 ounces, it is the lightest Nook device ever, and new lighting technology light is evenly distributed, turns on instantly and adjusts with a touch. The built-in anti-glare screen on the re-engineered display offers what Barnes & Noble says is paper-like readability, even in bright sunlight.

  • PBTeen to open in Huntington, N.Y.

    San Francisco – PBTeen, a Williams-Sonoma retail brand, will open a new store in Huntington, N.Y., on Nov. 7. It will be the first PBTeen location on Long Island, the 16th in the U.S., and also the first combined location of PBTeen, Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids, with pass-through access to all three stores.

  • Sports Authority is hiring for the holidays

    Sports Authority is the latest retailer beefing up staff ahead of the holiday shopping season. The specialty retailer plans to hire up to 5,000 part-time and temporary workers nationwide, a 20% increase from last year.

    Sports Authority also plans to convert hundreds of seasonal workers into part-time and full-time team members after the holidays.

  • Whole Foods Market set to open new San Francisco store

    EMERYVILLE, Calif. -- Whole Food Market will open its seventh San Francisco location — and 31st in the Bay Area — on Nov. 6. The store is the company’s 31st in the Bay Area.

    “We’ll have all our regular healthy and über-local food options, plus some cool new services like a shoeshine station, fresh cut-to-order honeycomb, a Paleo bar, an oyster shuck pop-up and a coffee bar close to the entrance, so it’s easy to grab a cup while you’re waiting for the bus,” said Paula Richmond, store team leader.

  • Sam’s Club relocates to Raymore from Grandview

    Raymore, Mo. — Sam’s Club has opened its newest club in Raymore, Mo. Relocated from Grandview, the new 136,000-sq.-ft. warehouse club will anchor the Raymore Galleria.

    The new club will feature a Fresh Bakery, Tire and Battery Center, Optical Center, Pharmacy, Hearing Aid Center, Café and Fuel Station.
