  • Easter shift, weather dampen 1-800-Flowers Q3 results

    Carle Place, N.Y. – A shift in the Easter holiday from the third to the fourth quarter and severe weather negatively impacted financial results at 1-800-Flowers.com during the third quarter of fiscal 2014. 1-800-Flowers reported a net loss of $1.42 million, compared to net profit of $2.64 million in the prior fiscal year.

    Net sales dropped 9% to $139.92 million, from $144.55 million.

  • Report: M-commerce market to reach $467 billion in 2019

    Dallas – The global mobile commerce market will grow from $116.1 billion in 2014 to $467.3 billion in 2019. According to a new report from MarketsandMarkets, in terms of geographies, North America and Europe are expected to be the biggest markets in terms of revenue contribution, while Asia-Pacific and Middle East-Africa are expected to experience increased market traction during the forecast period.

  • Whirlpool reaffirms full-year guidance

    Whirlpool Corporation reaffirmed its full-year guidance following first quarter results.

    Net sales in the quarter were $4.4 billion compared to $4.2 billion during the same prior-year period. Excluding the impact of foreign currency in addition to Brazilian (BEFIEX) tax credits, sales increased approximately 6%.

    WTI expects May 2014 to trend the coldest in three years and drier than last year. On the West Coast, it will be cooler than last year, but still above normal, while the South trends warmer than last year and normal. There is a good chance that a large portion of the North will trend cooler than last year and normal. There will be a band of severe weather potential extending from the lower Mississippi Valley northeast to eastern Ohio which will set the stage for increased demand for clean-up categories.
