    Ottawa, Ontario -- The Canadian government is reportedly seeking to boost penalties for retailers caught using “zapper” software that can delete or modify transactional data in electronic POS systems to illegally hide sales.

  • Cryoport adds tech talent to board

    LAKE FOREST, Calif. — Frozen shipping logistics solutions provider Cryoport has elected Edward J. Zecchini to its board of directors. 

    Zecchini has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare and information technology industries. With this appointment, the Cryoport board now has four members, of whom three are independent directors, including Zecchini.

  • Charming Charlie won over by analytics

    Houston – Charming Charlie is establishing a “single version of the truth” across multiple business units, including merchandising, store operations, planning and finance, using the ARC Merchandise Analytics solution from Manthan Systems. The solution is designed to deliver real-time merchandise and performance insights across the retail enterprise.

  • Revolve connects data analysis points

    Redwood City, Calif. -- Online fashion retailer Revolve is leveraging the eCommera Dynamic Action solution to perform daily analysis of a broad set of data points. By analyzing disparate information ranging from search and affiliate data to merchandising and shipping data on a unified basis, Revolve seeks to improve its business decision-making.

  • HoneyBaked Ham of Georgia boosts data center capacity for seasonal demand

    Alpharetta, Ga. – Seeking to boost the capacity and performance of its data center to handle the real-time decisions needed to meet seasonal demand for its 300 stores, HoneyBaked Ham of Georgia is using HP 3PAR Dynamic Optimization Software and HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage. The solutions nondisruptively add and rebalance capacity and system resources to handle changes in business demand on the fly.

  • Food safety platform adopted by second ROFDA wholesaler

    A second Retailer Owned Food Distributors & Associates (ROFDA) wholesaler is adopting ReposiTrak, a food safety platform.

    Powered by Park City Group’s technology, ReposiTrak aims to help manage regulatory, financial and brand risk associated with issues of food safety in the global food supply chain, and remain in compliance with rapidly evolving regulations in the Food Safety Modernization Act.

  • Verizon: Enterprise cloud use reaches tipping point

    New York - The use of cloud-based enterprise storage and production applications, as well as enterprise spending on cloud technology, has increased in the past year to a tipping point. According to the Verizon 2013 State of the Enterprise Cloud Report, between January 2012 and June 2013 the use of cloud-based storage grew 90% and use of cloud-based memory increased 100%, mostly due to the shift of business-critical applications to the cloud.

  • Westroads Mall begins mall-wide renovation

    Omaha, Neb. — Westroads Mall has begun work on a major, two-phase renovation and remodeling of the three-level, enclosed, 1.2-million-sq.-ft. super-regional shopping center in Omaha, Neb.

    Phase I is underway with mall-wide painting plus interior and exterior LED lighting installation. Phase I will also upgrade the malls energy management system. Plans call for Phase I to finish before the holiday season.
