  • JCPenney to increase Energy Star certifications to 400 stores

    Plano, Texas -- JCPenney Co. announced that it will up its participation in the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program to 400 stores by the end of 2013. Energy Star certification is awarded to buildings that rank within the top 25% of similar commercial buildings nationwide by meeting strict energy performance levels set by the EPA.

    JCPenney has a companywide goal to reduce facility energy use 20% by 2015.

  • Bi-Lo renews agreement with Kronos

    Chelmsford, Mass. -- Kronos announced that Bi-Lo has renewed its contract for Kronos’ selection and hiring solution.

    The Kronos solution is designed to allow Bi-Lo to identify candidates who are likely to perform better and stay longer. Also, hiring managers spend less time weeding out unqualified applicants and are able to fill positions more quickly.

  • Golden Corral eateries cut energy with E2America’s HVAC controls

    Wilmington, N.C. -- Efficient Energy America (E2America) announced that Platinum Corral, a multi-state franchise operator of Golden Corral restaurants, has signed an agreement to install the supplier’s intelligent heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) control system in all 30 of its stores.

  • C-store chain GasAmerica deploys JobApp Network to improve hiring

    Bloomfield Hills, Mich. -- Convenience-store operator GasAmerica is utilizing JobApp Network’s automated hiring management solution for c-stores. Following a phased approach, the Indiana-based chain has now completed rolling out the solution to all of its 86 locations.

    According to GasAmerica, hiring success starts with JobApp, which makes it easy for people to apply around the clock.

    CHICAGO — True Value has announced that a new chief information officer has joined the company. Rosaelee Hermens will serve as True Value’s new CIO, in addition to being an officer of the company, effective last Monday, May 9.

    Consumers remain skittish. Despite recent positive economic signs, the latest Gallup U.S. consumer spending report shows that routine daily expenditures at restaurants, gas stations and online stores are still down from their 2008 highs, falling to $58 per day in January 2011, versus $97 for the same month three years earlier.

  • Regency Centers implements Textura Corp. pre-qualification system

    Jacksonville, Fla. -- Shopping center owner and developer Regency Centers said it has implemented Textura Corp.’s Pre-Qualification Management in the company’s East Region. 

    Regency was already using the Construction Payment Management (CPM) system, then engaged Textura to deploy its Pre-Qualification Management (PQM) system.
