  • Cal-Maine Foods hatches promotions

    JACKSON, Miss. — Cal-Maine Foods, the nation’s largest egg producer, has elevated two operations executives. Kevin Lastowski and Chris Myers have both been promoted to VP of operations.

  • Leadership changes at Barcoding, Inc.

    BALTIMORE, Md. — Barcoding, Inc., a leader in the automated data collection market, has promoted Shane Snyder to president. He succeeds Jay Steinmetz, who founded the company and remains the company’s CEO.

    As president, Snyder will direct Barcoding’s day-to-day business operations and lead expansions into traditional markets.

  • UL expands product safety capacity

    UL has more than doubled its product testing capability by relocating to a new 48,000-sq.-ft. facility in Enfield, CT.

    The company, whose ubiquitous UL trademark appears on all manner of products, said the relocation will enable it to more efficiently meet the growing demand for the company’s analytical, physical, performance and compliance testing of consumer products for retailers and manufacturers doing business in the U.S.  

  • Logistics provider names new ops exec

    Frank McGuigan is the new EVP of operations at Transplace, a leading third party logistics provider.

    McGuigan joined Transplace in 2011 as SVP of contract logistics after the fast-growing, Dallas-based company acquired SCO Logistics where McGuigan served as president and CEO.

  • The search for top supply chain exec begins

    The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) is now accepting nominations for the industry’s most prestigious award.

    The CSCMP has issued an open call for nominations for its 2013 Distinguished Service Award to recognize an individual who has made significant contributions to the supply chain and logistics management profession. Last year’s recipient of the honor was Ann M. Drake, chairman and CEO of DSC Logistics.

  • Software company hires home-builder purchasing exec

    Hyphen Solutions has appointed Ken Pinto, a former supply chain executive for Toll Bros. and other national home builders, as its VP supply chain.

    Pinto brings 21 years of supply chain management expertise to Hyphen's real estate and software management team. He most recently served as the director of supply chain at Toll Bros. and has held similar positions at Standard Pacific and Pulte Homes. Pinto also heads the Supply Chain Benchmark Group, which is a coalition of the purchasing leaders of some of the largest home builders in the United States.

  • Butterball gobbles up pork producer

    GARNER, N.C. — Butterball has moved to diversify its product portfolio with the acquisition of family-owned and operated Gusto Packing Co., located in Montgomery, Ill.

    Gusto Packing Co. offers six basic product lines: Hickory & Apple Wood Smoked Bacon, Bone-In Smoked Pork & Turkey Products, Smoked Boneless Hams, Cooked Hams, Pork & Turkey Deli Meats and Spiral Sliced Hams.

  • Dollar Tree to expand Oklahoma DC

    CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Dollar Tree intends to expand its 603,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Marietta, Oklahoma by an additional 400,000 sq. ft.

    The leading operator of discount variety stores in North America which sells everything for no more than $1 will create more than 100 new full-time positions as a result of the expansion.
