  • Free Shipping Day: Warehouse Checklist for Success

    More than 1,000 U.S. merchants will offer free shipping this Dec. 18 on all orders with guaranteed delivery by Christmas. Just six days before Christmas, free shipping day attracts troves of last-minute shoppers looking for a good deal and generated more than one billion dollars in online sales last year.

  • China, U.S., U.K. top e-commerce opportunity study

    New York -- China takes the top spot in online retail market opportunity, followed by Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Korea, according to a new global e-commerce study by A.T. Kearney. (Kearney’s “2013 Global Retail E-Commerce Index” is comprised of 30 developed and developing markets.)

  • Easton Gateway breaks ground

    Columbus, Ohio — Steiner + Associates, The Georgetown Co. and Limited Brands have broken ground on Easton Gateway, a 54-acre addition to Easton Town Center.

    Nearly 15 years after Easton Town Center opened, Easton Gateway will introduce a number of noteworthy additions to the master-planned community, including new brands and big box retail.

  • From penthouse to poorhouse for this retail exec

    America’s Thrift Stores has hired former Tiffany executive Mike Kane as its new chief operations officer. Kane joins the leadership team at the largest privately owned thrift store company in the Southeast.

    At Tiffany, Kane served as VP of manufacturing and prior to that, as a division president.

    "I am excited about joining such a passionate group of people," said Kane, "and I see tremendous dedication to do whatever it takes to achieve the mission we have started."

  • Dr. Pepper Snapple Group expands partnership with Bai Brands

    Dr. Pepper Snapple Group plans to distribute a growing line of all-natural, antioxidant-infused beverages.

    Bai Brands, which makes the Bai 5 line, said the two companies have been working together for the last two years in select markets around the country and will now expand their partnership in most major markets.

  • Kid Brands enhances supply chain

    Kid Brands has entered into an agreement with National Distribution Centers — a warehousing and distribution division of NFI, which is a fully integrated supply chain solutions provider — to address certain third-party logistics for the company's warehousing and distribution operations.

  • Ecommerce sales sizzle as assortments expand

    Walmart said sales of its Global eCommerce business unit grew by 40% during the third quarter as it increased investments, expanded assortments and included results from a Chinese acquisition.

  • XPO Logistics acquires Optima Service Solutions

    New York -- Transportation logistics services provider XPO Logistics has acquired Optima Service Solutions, a non-asset provider of last-mile logistics services for major retailers and manufacturers in the United States.

    The cash purchase price was $26.6 million, excluding any working capital adjustments, with no assumption of debt.
