    For the average consumer, the holiday season probably seems far away. As we recover from back-to-school mayhem, holiday shopping lists are not likely to be top of mind. Very soon, however, decorations will begin creeping onto store shelves, and seasonal commercials will make their first appearances during our favorite TV shows.

  • Ross Dress for Less opens new Kansas store Oct. 11

    Dublin, Calif. - Ross Dress for Less will open a new store in Kansas on Oct. 11. The store is located in Schulman Crossing in Garden City.  

    This new opening is part of the retailer’s 2014 expansion program, totaling approximately 75 new locations during the year. 

     

  • PwC US: Top 10 trends that will drive holiday shopping

    New York -- Cautious spending and economic realities that are bifurcating the American holiday shopper into two distinct segments are two of the 10 trends that are expected to drive the 2014 holiday shopping season, according to a new report from PwC US and Strategy.

  • Newegg opens high-tech warehouse to better serve Midwest

    Newegg has opened a high-tech warehouse and shipping today in Indianapolis. The leading technology e-retailer estimates that the new warehouse will allow 45 million people in the Midwestern U.S. to get their orders faster.

    In addition to Indiana, customers in Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, Wisconsin and West Virginia will see the greatest benefit, with noticeably shorter delivery times.

    Framingham, Mass. -- Staples has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the 11th straight year.

    The annual Dow Jones Sustainability Indices follows a best-in-class approach, including companies across all industries that outperform their peers in numerous sustainability metrics.

  • Report: RadioShack in deal for new financing package

    New York -- RadioShack Corp. has agreed to a financing packaging arranged by its biggest investor, hedge fund Standard General, that would help ease the retailer’s cash crunch as it heads into the holiday selling season, Bloomberg reported.

  • Under Armour to build distribution center in Tennessee

    Under Armour, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and economic and community development commissioner Bill Hagerty announced the company's plans to build a new 1 million-sq.-ft. distribution and warehouse facility in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville.

  • Ross Dress for Less opens two Hawaii stores Oct. 10

    Dublin, Calif. - Ross Dress for Less will open two new stores in Hawaii on Oct. 10. The stores are located in Kukui Grove Center in Lihue, on the island of Kauai, and the Kahala Mall in Honolulu, on the island of Oahu.  

    These new openings are part of the retailer’s 2014 expansion program, totaling approximately 75 new locations during the year.
