  • 99 Cents Only opens stores in Southwest

    City of Commerce, Calif. – 99 Cents Only Stores, Inc. is opening two new stores in the Southwestern U.S. today. One is located in Arizona, and one in Texas.

    99 Cents Only is opening its first store in Laveen, Ariz. at 3610 West Baseline Road. The store is approximately 11,685 sq. ft. and will feature a perishable food department, including produce, dairy and frozen foods.

  • Columbia Sportswear appoints new SVP, Europe

    Columbia Sportswear Company, a leading manufacturer of active outdoor apparel, footwear, accessories and equipment, has appointed Franco Fogliato as SVP of Europe, reporting directly to president and CEO Tim Boyle, effective Nov. 4.

    Fogliato will be responsible for establishing and executing sales, distribution and marketing strategies for the company’s Columbia Sportswear, Mountain Hardwear and Sorel brands, sold through more than 5,000 wholesale customers across Europe.

  • AutoZone same-store sales lower than expected

    Domestic same-store sales at AutoZone for the fourth quarter ended Aug. 31 increased 1% — below expectations. The company did have reason to ride high, however, because it also posted its 28th consecutive quarter of double digit growth in earnings per share. 

    Diluted earnings per share increased 23.2% to $10.42 per share from $8.46 per share in the year-ago quarter. Moreover, net sales were $3.1 billion for the quarter, a 12% jump from the same quarter last year. 

  • Pet Supermarket signs into Fielder Plaza

    Arlington, Texas — With more than 135 stores across the country, Pet Supermarket has leased 6,000 sq. ft. of retail space in Fielder Plaza, a community retail center in Arlington, Texas.

    The Weitzman Group, the exclusive retail-leasing agent for the center, handled negotiations for the transaction. Pet Supermarket will join Tom Thumb grocery, CVS/pharmacy, Starbucks, Allstate, T-Mobile and others. Cencor Realty Services manages Fielder Plaza.

     

  • David’s Bridal bolsters omnichannel offerings

    David’s Bridal is turning to Manhattan Associates to bolster its omnichannel offerings and ensure on-time and accurate delivery of customer orders from across its network. The announcement comes on the heels of its extended exclusive relationship with the Men's Wearhouse. 

    The amendment to the current contract with Men’s Wearhouse extends the partnership by five years with the option to extend for an additional five years.

  • Weis Markets CEO resigns; vice chairman named interim chief executive

    Sunbury, Pa. -- Weis Markets announced that company president and CEO David J. Hepfinger has left the company to pursue other interests. Company vice chairman Jonathan H. Weis replaces him as interim CEO. Robert F. Weis remains as company chairman.

    Hepfinger has also resigned from the company's board of directors. As part of the reorganization, Kurt Schertle, executive VP, sales and merchandising will report directly to Weis who will also oversee the company's real estate/store development, finance and human resources' teams.
