  • Coca-Cola restructures Americas business to accelerate growth

    The Coca-Cola Company is making management and organizational changes to Coca-Cola Americas as part of its agenda to accelerate growth.

    The company, which reorganized its operating structure last year, is taking further steps to streamline its focus and expedite its refranchising to independent bottling partners.

    Effective Jan. 1, 2014, the integrated North America business will be segmented into a traditional company and bottler operating model that will consist of two operating units: Coca-Cola North America and Coca-Cola Refreshments.

    Walmart declared an early Black Friday victory and reported record Cyber Monday sales, but the big box retailer is not done yet. Starting at 8 a.m. Friday, it is launching its Christmas Countdown Savings Event and dropping prices on popular toys, electronics, apparel and table games.

    With only 12 days to shop before Christmas, the strategy aims to drive last-minute shoppers to both its stores and e-commerce site.

    The Home Depot reportedly plans to invest $300 million on technology and supply chain upgrades during its fiscal year 2014, which begins in February 2014. According to the Wall Street Journal, the results will include three new fulfillment centers in California, Atlanta and Ohio by 2016, as well as same-day shipping for some online orders.

    Atlanta – The Home Depot reportedly plans to invest $300 million on technology and supply chain upgrades during its fiscal year 2014, which begins in February 2014. According to the Wall Street Journal, the results will include three new fulfillment centers in California, Atlanta and Ohio by 2016, as well as same-day delivery for some online orders.

  • CVS Caremark, Cardinal Health in generic drug joint venture

    Woonsocket, R.I. -- CVS Caremark and Cardinal Health have entered into an agreement to form the largest generic sourcing entity in the United States.

    Both companies are contributing their sourcing and supply chain expertise to this 50/50 joint venture and are committing to source generic drugs through it. The companies separately announced a three-year extension through June 2019 of Cardinal Health's existing pharmaceutical distribution agreements with CVS Caremark.

    Boca Raton, Fla. -- Office Depot has selected Boca Raton, Fla., for its global headquarters rather than the Naperville, Ill., corporate home of its merger partner OfficeMax.

  • Dickies adds children’s footwear license to portfolio

    Leading global workwear brand Dickies has entered into a new licensing agreement with SG Footwear, a division of SG Companies and leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of children’s footwear in the U.S.

    Products under the license will include infant, toddler, boys and girls casual footwear, including hikers, relaxed loafers and classic casuals.

  • Nordstrom Rack to increase New Jersey footprint

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at Livingston Center in Livingston, N.J. The approximately 32,155-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in fall 2014.

    The developer for the project is G&S Investors.

    "We're excited about the opportunity to open our third Nordstrom Rack in New Jersey at a great location in the Livingston community," said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack.
