  • Grocery group makes 'Retail Sense' of marketing

    TAMPA, Fla. — Retail Sense, a marketing software company, has entered into a multi-year contract with Associated Wholesale Grocers, a retailer-owned cooperative serving over 2,500 retail stores, to implement its IntelliSence marketing resource management solution.

  • 99 Cents Only Stores posts Q3 sales growth

    CITY OF COMMERCE, Calif. — 99 Cents Only Stores reported that net sales for the third quarter increased $35.6 million, or 8.8%, to $439.5 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2013 compared to $403.9 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2012. Same-store sales increased 4.3%.  

  • Kroger promotes perishables VP to head of Central division

    CINCINNATI — Kroger has promoted Jeff Burt, formerly group VP perishables, merchandising and procurement, to president of the company's Central division. Kroger's Central Division operates 136 food stores primarily in Indiana and Illinois.

    Mr. Burt, 50, has been group vice president of perishables merchandising and procurement since 2010. He succeeds Bob Moeder, who recently announced his plans to retire this spring.

  • Starbucks makes New Delhi debut

    New York -- Tata Starbucks Limited, the 50/50 joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company and India’s Tata Global Beverages Limited, opened Starbucks’ first location in New Delhi. The store is designed to celebrate the heritage and history of the city.

  • No Rest for Bridget to open its first East Coast store

    Boston -- No Rest for Bridget, based in Irvine, Calif., will make its East Coast debut in mid-March, opening a 1,300-sq.-ft. location on Boston’s Newbury Street.

    The fast-fashion retailer specializes in affordable women’s clothing and accessories to 20- to 39-year-olds.

    The store’s build-out is being handled by A&O Danner Companies, Plymouth, Mass., which is working with D2 Construction of Costa Mesa, Calif.

     

  • Haier seeks supply chain edge

    Third party logistic provider Kenco was chosen by Haier America to manage the appliance brand’s U.S. distribution.
