  • SRS Real Estate announces new hire

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners said it has hired Andrew Cornwell as a research analyst in the Austin/San Antonio office.

    Prior to this role, Cornwell was an intern for SRS where he focused on research while working closely with the investment sales team.

  • Gap Inc. honored for women's empowerment program

    SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Gap Inc. announced that its Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement program was recognized by former President Bill Clinton at the Clinton Global Initiative, held in New York City.  Bob Fisher, son of Gap Inc. founders Doris and Don Fisher and a Gap Inc. board member, accepted the honor on behalf of the company.

  • Celebrity home designer creates collection for Anna's Linens

    COSTA MESA, Calif. — Anna’s Linens has partnered with television personality and home designer Domenica Brazzi for a bedding and accessories collection launching simultaneously in all 285 Anna’s Linens stores and online at the end of September. 

  • Macy’s going smaller in Pittsburgh

    New York City -- Macy's is reducing the size of its store in downtown Pittsburgh from nine floors of retail space to six (plus a mezzanine).

    The company has been moving some departments to lower floors since early this year. The store will remain open during the renovations.

    "The store is being reconfigured for better flow among departments, making shopping easier and more convenient," the company said in a statement.

  • RadioShack expands Nook in e-reader market

    NEW YORK — RadioShack, which already offers the Amazon Kindle, has expanded its e-reader offerings with the addition of the Nook from Barnes & Noble. The company announced Wednesday that it will offer Barnes & Noble's Nook e-reading devices and related accessories to more than 3,000 RadioShack stores nationwide and online at radioshack.com, beginning Oct. 3. 

  • ICSC: Shopping-center sales will rise 2.2% in 2011

    New York City -- Shopping-center sales in November and December are expected to increase 2.2% relative to the same period a year ago, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers. In 2010, the holiday season posted a 5% gain following two back-to-back declines during the 2007-09 recession.

    The organization has forecast that U.S. holiday sales in 2011 will post a moderate 3% gain, down from 2.1% last year.
     

  • ShopperTrak predicts 3% increase in holiday sales

    Chicago -- Retail sales will rise 3% percent during November and December compared to the year-ago period, but foot traffic will decrease 2.2%, according to ShopperTrak.

    ShopperTrak's holiday sales increase prediction follows 19 consecutive months of year-over-year U.S. retail sales growth. The expected increase is moderate compared with the 2010 holiday season's 4.1% sales increase over 2009.
