    WASHINGTON — The National Retail Federation is set to go to court in order to block the proposed $7.25 billion settlement of a federal antitrust lawsuit over Visa and MasterCard credit card swipe fees.

  • Papa Murphy's to open 100 Middle East locations

    Vancouver, Wash. -- The international arm of Take-and-bake pizza operator Papa Murphy’s announced Monday it has signed a master franchise agreement with MAM Foodco to open 100 locations throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council.

    The first location, which marks the chain’s debut outside North America, is slated to open in Dubai, UAE, before the end of 2012.
     

  • Nicole Richie collection debuts at Macy's

    NEW YORK — Macy's on Sept. 12 will debut a new fashion line from Nicole Richie. The Nicole Richie for Impulse collection will include 1960s and 1970s influenced silhouettes, prints and fabrications and be sold at approximately 100 Macy’s stores and on Macys.com/impulse.For the first time, Macy’s Facebook fans will be the very first to shop the collection at facebook.com/macys before it hits stores Wednesday.

  • Walmex same-store sales rose 4.1% in August, beating Street

    Mexico City -- Wal-Mart Stores’ Mexican arm Wal-Mart de Mexico reported Monday that same-store sales for the month of August rose 4.1%, beating analysts’ expected 2.8% increase.

    The retailer, which is being investigated for bribery to expedite store openings, projects improved results for the second half of the year.
     

  • Hollister fires models for insulting Asians at South Korea store opening

    New York -- Hollister has fired three male models it flew in for the grand opening store of its first store in South Korea after the models mocked Asians in photos and on their social media accounts, according to various media reports.

  • Report: Michael Francis going to Gap

    New York -- Michael Francis, who was ousted as president of J.C. Penney Co. in June, is going to Gap Inc., according to Ad Age.

    Francis will serve as a marketing creative advisor for Gap, and join the chain in the advisory role on Sept. 16, the report said.
