  • Study: Prices not lowest on Black Friday and Cyber Monday

    Solon, Ohio -- Black Friday and Cyber Monday does not always mean lower prices, according to a study by ECRM Analytics that examines Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions. The analysis exposes many common misconceptions around these two important shopping days.

    ECRM found that when comparing Black Friday deals to other times throughout the year, it is apparent that holiday prices are not always the lowest, with leading retailers promoting higher prices than previously advertised on toys and consumer electronics.

    New York -- Brixmor Property Group announced four lease executions with Ross Dress for Less  across the Brixmor portfolio. Within the Brixmor portfolio of shopping centers, Ross currently has 26 locations in 11 states and encompasses approximately 800,000 sq. ft.

  • Here we go, big Bud distributer expands turf

    ST. LOUIS — Grey Eagle Distributors, the Anheuser-Busch wholesaler for St. Louis County, has acquired the Illinois Distributing Company, an Anheuser-Busch wholesaler based in Belleville, Ill.  

    The acquisition includes Illinois Distributing's assets and sales territory, which includes most of St. Clair County, Monroe County, Collinsville and Granite City. Grey Eagle will begin selling beer to retailers in the new territory today. Illinois Distributing sold approximately 2.6 million cases of beer annually.

    Chicago -- Social media is now essential to marketing in the retail industry, according to a recent BDO USA survey, which found that 86% of retail CMOs have included social media in their holiday marketing strategy. The executives said social media accounts for 10% of their holiday advertising and marketing budgets this year.

  • C-store group adds DC muscle

    ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Association of Convenience Stores has named Paige Anderson as its director of government relations.

    Anderson has extensive experience on Capitol Hill, and has particular expertise in energy policy and cyber-security. She most recently served as deputy chief of staff and legislative director for Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack, the outgoing U.S. Representative for California's 45th congressional district.

  • Report: Target promotion with Neiman Marcus not off to spectacular start; in-store execution lacking

    New York -- Early reports indicate that Target Corp.’s holiday promotion with Neiman Marcus is not off to the spectacular start that many industry experts had expected. The promotion includes some 50 gift items featuring works of 24 well-known designers from Marc Jacobs to Diane von Furstenberg to Judith Leiber.

  • Dillard’s joins line-up for The Shops at Summerlin

    Dallas -- The Howard Hughes Corp. and Dillard’s announced that the department store is the latest anchor to be part of The Shops at Summerlin, in West Las Vegas Valley. Dillard’s will build a two-level, 200,000-sq.-ft. foot in the center, with opening scheduled for fall 2014.
