  • Josh Duhamel teams up with PetSmart Charities to help homeless pets

    Actor/producer Josh Duhamel and his production company, Dakotakid Media, are lending their services to PetSmart Charities for the launch of Rescue Waggin': Tales from the Road.

    Under the direction of executive producers Duhamel and Jude Weng, the eight-episode web series follows homeless dogs as they travel hundreds, even thousands, of miles for a better chance of being adopted. The web series includes cameos from a cache of celebrity pet adoption advocates, including Kristen Bell, Adam Shankman and Bret Michaels.

  • Leadership team changes at Aaron's

    Lease-to-own retailer Aaron's has named Michael P. Ryan as VP of franchising. He replaces Todd Evans, who will be exiting the company. Henri Rogers, currently senior regional manager for Aaron's Three Rivers region, will succeed Ryan as divisional VP of Northern operations.

  • Ascena reduces outlook further

    Ascena Retail Group, the operator Lane Bryant, Justice and Dress Barn stores, cited increased spending on growth initiatives and a challenging sales climate for a second quarter profit decline and its second full year earnings guidance reduction in two months.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts seeks Alabama franchise growth

    Canton, Mass. – Dunkin’ Donuts is recruiting franchisees in Dothan, Ala. Currently, there are 18 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants located throughout Alabama. To help fuel growth in Dothan, special development incentives are available, which include reduced royalty fees for three years and up to $10,000 in local store marketing.  

  • Report: New Honey Dew Donuts store won’t serve donuts

    Plainville, Mass. – Honey Dew Donuts plans to open a new store inside a YMCA in Quincy, Mass. In an interesting twist, the store reportedly won’t actually serve the retailer’s titular product.

  • Pier I cites harsh winter as it lowers profit guidance

    Forth Worth, Texas -- Pier I reduced its fourth quarter and fiscal 2014 profit forecasts, blaming the negative impact of severe winter weather. The home furnishings chain is the latest in a series of retailers to credit the extremely cold weather as the main reason for its reduced outlook.

  • Sally Hansen appoints global ambassador

    Sally Hansen has appointed Madeline Poole as global color ambassador, trend expert and artistic adviser.

    Poole will create the nail looks for Sally Hansen's exclusive nail sponsorship with Stella McCartney Collections in 2014. Sally Hansen said that it tapped the up-and-coming nail artist for her expertise in nail color and trends, cool factor, social media following and reputation for creating nail looks with a creative edge.

    The Sally Hansen brand will integrate Poole’s designs into its brand advertising, promotion and digital campaigns.
