  • Dots acquired by Irving Place Capital

    New York City -- Private equity firm Irving Place Capital announced Tuesday that it acquired value-oriented women’s apparel and accessory retailer Dots. Terms of the transaction, which closed on Jan. 3, were not disclosed.

  • GNC at opens at Merchants Park

    Houston -- Centro Properties Group said that General Nutrition Center has opened a 1,600-sq.-ft. store at Merchants Park, in Houston.

    Centro Properties Group, based in New York City, is the owner of Merchants Park.

  • Ogilvy & Mather, Malone form new kind of agency

    NEW YORK - OgilvyAction, the activation arm of Ogilvy & Mather, and Malone Advertising, the retail marketing unit of JWT, both part of WPP Group,have announced a joint venture in North America to form the first fully integrated, end-to-end shopper marketing and experiential marketing agency.

  • Centro NP Residual Holding forms JV with Inland American

    New York City -- Centro NP Residual Holding LLC said Friday it has sold a portion of its interest in 25 shopping centers and formed a joint venture with Inland American CP Investment, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Inland American Real Estate Trust.

    The new joint venture has secured $310 million of term loans with J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs, which mature in 10 years and are secured by assets within the joint venture.

  • Tony’s New York Style Pizza to open at Johns Creek Center

    Jacksonville, Fla. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased retail space in Jacksonville at Johns Creek Center to Tony’s New York Style Pizza.

    The local pizzeria will open a 1,600-sq.-ft. restaurant in March 2011, and brings the center to 93% leased.

    The 75,100-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by Publix alongside Great Clips, H&R Block and Bank of America.

  • Geoffrey Covert named SVP retail operations at Kroger

    CINCINNATI - Just two weeks after announcing the exit of it's SVP retail operations, Kroger announced a replacement.

    Geoffrey Covert, a seasoned Kroger executive, will become SVP retail operations, effective Jan. 1. He will be responsible for leading the company's programs and processes focused on operating efficiency, store productivity, and associate and customer safety., Kroger said. Prior to this position, Covert served as president of the company's Cincinnati/Dayton division for the past six years.

     

     

  • Children’s Place taps Rhys Commercial for Connecticut expansion

    Stamford, Conn. -- Rhys Commercial announced that The Children’s Place has retained it to handle the retailer’s expansion across Connecticut.

    According to RHYS, which is actively seeking out locations in densely populated and well-trafficked markets throughout the state, The Children’s Place generally requires between 4,000 and 4,500 sq. ft. of space. The retailer is looking to open new stores in potential infill markets.

  • Qdoba to open two new restaurants in Pennsylvania

    Philadelphia -- Michael Salove Co., an X Team partner based in Center City Philadelphia, announced that it has completed two lease transactions in the Greater Philadelphia market with Qdoba Mexican Grill.

    Qdoba will open a 2,600-sq.-ft. unit in Providence Town Center in Collegeville, Pa. and will open a 2,300-sq.-ft. unit in Wynnewood Square in Wynnewood, Pa.
