  • ODP lone retailer in Top 10 Newsweek green list

    NEW YORK — For the second year in a row, Office Depot was recognized in Newsweek magazine’s annual “Green Rankings” as the greenest large retailer in America. Across all industry sectors, Office Depot was ranked as America’s 8th greenest large company, a move up of 10 spots from last year, and was the only retailer in the U.S. Top 10 list.

    Office Depot not only achieved the highest aggregate green score in the U.S. retail industry, but also led in Environmental Management, and disclosure of performance data.

  • VF Q3 profit up 24%

    New York City -- VF Corp. reported that its third-quarter net income rose 24% on higher prices and sales, and raised its full-year outlook and quarterly dividend.

    The clothing and footwear company said profit growth came from its September acquisition of Timberland and strong sales across most of its categories. 
     

  • HSN to create culinary line with Bon Appetit

    NEW YORK — HSN announced that it has partnered with Conde Nast to create a new collection of culinary products under the Bon Appetit label that will be available exclusively via all of HSN's sales platforms including television, online and mobile. 

  • L.K. Bennett opens in New Jersey

    New York City -- British fashion retailer L.K.Bennett, opened its third U.S. boutique, at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, N. J.

    “We have over 100 stores in the UK. now — and in the long term weʼd like to have the same number of stores in the U.S.,” said Robert Bensoussan, CEO London.

  • Fresh & Easy to host holiday food drive in November

    EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy will kick off its annual in-store holiday food drive across all of its stores next month in honor of National Food Bank Week.

    From mid-November trough Dec. 31, customers can donate canned and boxed goods in specially designated boxes at Fresh & Easy stores in Arizona, California and Nevada.

    Last holiday season, the retailer and its customers donated more than $1 million in food to local food banks and charities.

  • Saks Off 5th to close in Morrisville, N.C.

    New York City -- Saks plans to close its 20,000-sq.-ft. Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th store in Triangle Factory Outlets in Morrisville, N.C., (metropolitan Raleigh) by Jan. 1.

    The company opened a 30,000-sq.-ft. Off 5th location in Tanger Outlet Center of the Piedmont in nearby Mebane, N.C., in 2010, which will serve as a replacement store for the closing location. The new Mebane store was designed in the chain’s loft” format that debuted in 2008 and which redefined and elevated the outlet shopping experience.

  • Study: Retailers not engaging mobile shoppers

    New York City -- While 43% of smartphone owners have installed and used a retailer's app, only 14% of those who installed them say the app led to a purchase decision, according to the most recent Retrevo Pulse Study, an ongoing study of tech industry trends conducted for the consumer electronics shopping and review site.
