  • Best Buy to open in-store Samsung shops

    Richardson, Texas -- Samsung Electronics and Best Buy Co. have entered into a partnership to install Samsung in-store shops in more than 1,400 Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores across the U.S. beginning this month.

    By early May, 900 Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile specialty stores will feature the “Samsung Experience Shop,” with the remainder launching by early summer.
        

  • Dollar Tree opens at Ridgeview Centre

    Wise, Va. -- Brixmor Property Group announced on Monday that Dollar Tree has opened a 9,000-sq.-ft. store at Ridgeview Centre, located in Wise, Va.

    Brixmor, based in New York City, is the owner of Ridgeview Centre.
     

     

  • Starbucks appoints Disney exec as global chief strategy officer

    Seattle -- Starbucks Coffee Company announced that it has appointed Matthew Ryan as global chief strategy officer. Ryan was previously SVP of global brand, franchise and customer relationship management for The Walt Disney Company.

  • Nordstrom Rack planned for Oklahoma City, San Francisco

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to open two Nordstrom Rack locations, one in Oklahoma City, and the other in San Francisco.

    Nordstrom Rack will open at Belle Isle Station in Oklahoma City. The approximately 34,000-sq.-ft. store, scheduled to open in fall 2013, and will be the retailer's first location in the state.

    In San Francisco, Nordstrom Rack signed a 45,496-sq.-ft. lease for a space at the 901 Market Street property, which owned by Hudson Pacific Properties.

  • DDR acquires $81 million in assets, including Dallas power center

    Beachwood, Ohio -- DDR Corp. announced Monday that, during the first quarter, it acquired two prime assets in Dallas and in Oakland, Calif., for $81 million.

    Also during the quarter, DDR disposed of $46 million of non-prime assets, including $8 million of non-income producing assets.

  • GBT Realty completes construction at McPherson Place

    Laredo, Texas -- Brentwood, Tenn.-based GBT Realty said Wednesday it has completed construction of a new shopping center that is home to four new retailers. The fully occupied McPherson Place, in Laredo, Texas, is tenanted by James Avery, Orange Leaf, Starbucks Coffee and AT&T. All four stores are open for business.

    “The quality of this location allowed us to completely fill the center with an outstanding list of retailers,” said Fraser Schaufele, VP leasing at GBT.

  • Report: Best Buy and Target end Geek Squad test

    New York -- Best Buy Co. Inc. and Target Corp. ended a partnership that positioned Geek Squad agents in Target stores in Denver and Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

    The six-month pilot allowed Geek Squad personnel to offer services such as installation and repair to electronics customers at 29 Target stores. The program covered a wide range of consumer electronics products, according to the report.

  • Study: DSW is America’s favorite shoe retailer, followed by Nordstrom

    Boulder, Colo. -- In survey results released Wednesday by Market Force Information, DSW was named America’s No. 1 shoe retailer by more than 4,000 consumers polled.

    Nordstrom, Nike, Shoe Carnival and Famous Footwear rounded out the top five.
