  • Cybera deploys payment solution to 20K retailers

    New York – Network and application security services provider Cybera, Inc. has reached 20,000 deployments of its payment application defined network (ADN) solution. An AND is an enterprise data network using virtual network and security components to provide a dedicated logical network for each application, with customized security and network policies to meet the requirements of that specific application.

  • Groupon acquires online flash fashion retailer Ideeli

    Groupon has expanded its fashion and apparel footprint with its acquisition of Ideeli, a leading online flash fashion retailer, for $43 million in cash.

    Ideeli was founded in 2007 and its members number in the millions.

  • Publix Super Markets selects Applied Data Corp. Software system

    Tampa, Fla. -- Applied Data Corporation (ADC), a provider of fresh item management (FIM), recipe management and scales management software to the grocery retail and food service industries, announced that Publix Super Markets, Lakeland, Fla., has completed implementation of InterScale, ADC’s Scales Management Software system, into all of their stores.

  • Trans World Entertainment holiday performance slips

    Albany, N.Y. -- Total sales for the nine-week holiday 2013 period at Trans World Entertainment Corporation were $115 million compared to $128 million for the same period last year, a decrease of 10.2%. The company operated an average of 5% fewer stores during the nine-week period as compared to last year.

    Same-store sales for the nine-week period ended Jan. 4, 2014 decreased 6%.

     

  • Sam’s Club gets serious about e-commerce

    Former Barnes & Noble executive Jamie Iannone was named president and CEO of Samsclub.com in a restructuring that elevates and integrates Sam’s Club’s online business into the Walmart’s Global eCommerce business unit based in California.

    Iannone previously served as president of digital products at Barnes & Noble and oversaw the book seller’s Nook Media unit. He also spent seven years at eBay, earned a bachelor’s degree at Princeton and an MBA at Stanford.

  • Report: Retail foot traffic declines during 2013 holiday season

    San Jose, Calif. -- The full months of November and December 2013 suffered a brick-and-mortar customer traffic decline as compared to the same two months in 2012. According to new analysis from RetailNext, average sales decline remained at low single digits, which was aided by average growth in average transaction value (ATV) and a slightly positive 0.2% point increase in conversion.
