  • Cache.com engages SLI Systems to implement site search

    San Jose, Calif. -- SLI Systems said Wednesday that Cache has implemented its full-service Learning Search solution for Cache.com, resulting in an 88% increase in the conversion rate among site search users.

    The company, said SLI, has also seen a 42% increase in site search usage by its online visitors, driving more sales and revenues.
     

  • Wal-Mart: Loss from bribery probe likely

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. revealed in a Tuesday SEC filing that it will most likely incur a loss from bribery probes into its operations in Mexico and other countries.

    According to the filing, Wal-Mart said it expects to incur costs beyond the $157 million it spent on the probes in 2013, but didn’t elaborate on the amount or the size of the potential loss.

  • GBT Realty launches construction on Village on Pooler Parkway

    Nashville, Tenn. -- GBT Realty Corp. said Wednesday it has closed on the purchase of approximately 20 acres along Pooler Parkway in Pooler, Ga., for the development of the Village on Pooler Parkway. The development will consist of more than 143,000 sq. ft. when completed in the first quarter of 2014.
     

  • Kroger VP to retire

    Cincinnati -- Kroger on Tuesday announced the planned retirement of VP and pension investment officer, Rich Manka. His retirement is effective July 15.

    "Throughout his career, Rich has been a trusted member of Kroger's leadership team," stated Mike Schlotman, Kroger's CFO. "Pension plan trustees and participants alike have benefited from his vast knowledge and influence on investment strategies and plan designs. We thank Rich for his contributions to our company and industry and wish him the very best."

  • Report: Wegmans looking to open in Boston

    New York -- Wegmans is looking to open its first location in Boston, according to a report on Boston.com.

    The company reportedly is seeking to open at the Landmark Center, an office and retail complex that is being redeveloped. Wegmans anticipates that an agreement for the site will be reached “in the near future,” the report said.

     

  • American Express, Wal-Mart expand Bluebird program

    New York -- American Express and Wal-Mart Stores announced Tuesday that they are expanding their reloadable prepaid card program, Bluebird, to include direct-deposit capabilities for government checks.

  • Westlake Ace Hardware, Bolivar, Missouri

    Westlake Ace Hardware is showing off a new, fresh design at its location in Bolivar, Missouri. The 17,845-sq.-ft. store has an organic and modern feel, with a wood and metal façade and polished concrete floors. Garage-style doors (kept open, weather permitting) and skylights allow natural light into the space. The format works to encourage browsing and helps make Westlake a preferred destination for project needs. (Westlake was designed by JGA, Southfield, Mich.)
