  • Report: Postal Service seeks expansion of Amazon grocery pilot

    Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) reportedly wants to expand a pilot of a grocery delivery service it has been testing with Amazon.com in the San Francisco area. According to the Wall Street Journal, the USPS has applied to run a two-year test of the service.

    Walmart has been on a building boom in Northwest Arkansas. Small-format Express stores have been open now for several years, the new convenience concept Walmart To Go opened earlier this year and the latest development is a hybrid concept that allows online grocery orders to be picked up at a dedicated drive-through facility.

  • Kroger named to USHCC Million Dollar Club

    Cincinnati – The Kroger Co. has been named to the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Million Dollar Club. Introduced by the USHCC in 2010, the Million Dollar Club recognizes corporations that are leaders in supplier diversity and integrating Hispanic business enterprises into their strategic sourcing and procurement process.

    Austin, Texas – Retail real estate services provider UCR has been awarded project leasing and management of the retail for Hill Country Galleria, a 1.3 million-sq.-ft. Class A lifestyle/mixed-use development in Bee Cave, Texas. Peloton Commercial Real Estate has been awarded the office leasing assignment.

  • Kroger selected for million-dollar club

    Kroger is a member of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Million Dollar Club for the second consecutive year. The company was inducted in the $250 to $500 million annual expenditure category.

  • Ross Stores opens Phoenix store Oct. 11

    Dublin, Calif. - Ross Dress for Less will open a new store in Arizona on Oct. 11. The store is located in the Maryvale Plaza Shopping Center in Phoenix. This new opening is part of the retailer’s 2014 expansion program, totaling approximately 75 new locations during the year. 

    Together, Ross Dress for Less and DD’s Discounts currently operate more than 1,300 off-price apparel and home fashion stores in 33 states, the District of Columbia and Guam.
     

  • Kantar Retail: Target Canada beats Walmart Canada on pricing

    New York -- Target Canada is aggressively repositioning to drive its price value, according to a basket pricing study by Kantar Retail.

    “Target’s price leadership in Canada has clearly shifted,” noted Robin Sherk, director of retail insights, Kantar Retail, and contributor to the study. “We found that the price of Target Canada’s overall basket was 3.9% less expensive than Walmart’s. In our initial study, the retailers’ basket values were effectively even.”
