  • China fines Wal-Mart, Carrefour for overpricing

    Beijing -- China said Wednesday it is fining Wal-Mart and Carrefour stores up to $75,900 for overpricing, expressing concerns about price inflation ahead of the impending Lunar New Year holiday.

    A statement posted Wednesday on the National Development and Reform Commission website listed about a dozen stores across the country that engaged in overpricing, noting high charges on items ranging from underwear to dumpling powder.

  • Dollar Zone, Leslie’s Swimming Pool Supplies to open at Marketplace at Manville

    Manville, N.J. -- Purchase, N.Y.-based National Realty & Development Corp. said that Dollar Zone has leased 15,000 sq. ft. and Leslie’s Swimming Pool Supplies has leased 2,970 sq. ft. at Marketplace at Manville, located in Manville, N.J.

    Both retailers are slated to open this spring.

    Walmart, A&P Supermarket and Reading Cinema anchor the 275,354-sq.-ft. center, which is now 100% leased.

  • Salient names senior exec

    Horseheads, N.Y. -- Salient Management Co. said Monday that Paul Osinski has joined the company as senior VP commercial sales, covering the retail, manufacturing, CPG, wholesaling and direct store delivery industries.

    Osinski was previously an independent consultant; before that he spent 23 years with Stamford, Conn.-based private brand sales and marketing company Daymon Worldwide, most recently as senior VP.

    Osinski reports directly to Guy Amisano, Salient chairman and CEO.

  • Sunflower Farmers Market to open third Utah location

    Salt Lake City -- Sunflower Farmers Market said Tuesday that it will open a new store in Salt Lake City on March 16.

    The newest location marks the organic grocery chain’s third in Utah and the 33rd store overall for Sunflower Farmers Market.

    Sunflower Farmers Market will open its first California location in April.

  • Toys ‘R’ Us/Babies ‘R’ Us to open at Indio Towne Center

    Indio, Calif. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has signed a lease and begun construction on a new Toys “R” Us/Babies “R” Us store at Indio Towne Center in Indio, Calif.

    The 46,827-sq.-ft. location will replace the retailer’s store in Palm Desert and become its only location in Southern California’s Coachella Valley.

  • Crosland announces Charlotte-area openings

    Charlotte, N.C. -- Crosland has announced new openings and tenant signings at various third-party managed and leased retail centers throughout the Charlotte, N.C., area.

    Ruby’s Gift opened a 1,323-sq.-ft. store at Colony Shops in early December, the retailer’s third Charlotte location.

    Om Spa Chiropractic & Wellness is relocating its business from The Arlington to the newly renovated The Villa shopping center, and is slated to open the 3,048-sq.-ft. facility in January.

  • Panache: An Aveda Salon to open at Plantation Plaza

    Jacksonville, Fla. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased retail space in Jacksonville, Fla., at Plantation Plaza to Panache: An Aveda Salon.   

    The full-service salon leased 2,992 sq. ft. of retail space, bringing the center to 93% leased. The salon, its second in the area, is slated to open spring 2011.

    The 77,747-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by Publix alongside national retailers such as Great Clips, Wendy’s and TCBY.

  • Sprint to open at Centennial Crossroads Plaza

    Las Vegas -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased 3,000 sq. ft. of retail space in Las Vegas, at Centennial Crossroads Plaza to Sprint.

    The store is slated to open in June.

    The 105,414-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by a 55,256-sq.-ft. Vons.
