  • Rubbermaid adds glassware to Easy Find Lids line

    HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- Rubbermaid has introduced a new line of glass food storage products to its Easy Find Lids line. 

    According to the company, the Easy Find Lids storage system, allows for easier storage because lids attach to each other and to the bottom of containers for storage, so the right lid is always at hand. Graduated sizes neatly nest within each other to save space.

    The glass products are oven-safe up to 425 degrees, feature Flex & Seal leak-proof lids and are square shaped to maximize space.

  • Wet Seal taps Gap veteran Seipel as president and COO

    Foothill Ranch, Calif. -- The Wet Seal announced Monday that it has hired Ken Seipel as president and COO, effective March 28.

    Seipel will report to CEO Susan P. McGalla.

    Seipel was previously president and chief merchandise/marketing officer of Pamida Discount Stores LLC, a regional general merchandise discount retailer. Prior to that, he was executive VP of stores, operations and store design for the Old Navy division of Gap.

  • Former Kohl's exec to head Canadian discount store

    MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- TB!S The Bargain Shop, a leading Canadian discount store chain, announced that Beryl Buley has been appointed president and CEO, effective immediately. Former president and CEO, Michael Roellinghoff, will assume the role of vice chairman of the board.

  • Report Sees Strong Rise in Retailer Growth in 2011

    Retailers’ growth plans in the United States are up 40% over last year’s levels, according to ChainLinks' Retail Advisors Spring 2011 National Retail Report. The report, which details trends impacting retail commercial real estate in more than 40 of the nation’s top markets, credits the surge in expansion to two key factors: the return of optimism within the retail sector; and the desire to expand quickly now -- before retail fundamentals improve enough for rents to start climbing again.

  • The Bargain Shops names Dollar General exec as CEO

    Toronto -- Canadian discounter The Bargain Shops said Tuesday it has hired Beryl Jack Buley, former division president of Dollar General Corp., as its CEO.

    The retailer said it is prepping for Target Corp.’s takeover of former Zellers stores across Canada in two years, which could shift some of Bargain Shop customers over to Target.

    According to an Associated Press report, however, Buley said he is not worried about the impending competition from Target, saying that “enormous opportunity” remains in Canada.

  • Walmart wrestles itself a WWE deal

    STAMFORD, Conn. -- WWE and Vivendi Entertainment announced that Walmart will be the exclusive retailer for WWE Studios’ films. Vivendi Entertainment will continue to be WWE’s North American retail and rental distribution partner. 

  • Leonard Green firm evaluating BJ’s takeover

    New York City -- Information on Tuesday confirmed that private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners LP is considering an offer to acquire BJ’s Wholesale Club.

    Leonard Green, which already as a 9.3% ownership stake in the wholesale club operator, said in an SEC filing that it is examining confidential information provided by BJ's as it evaluates an offer.

    BJ's revealed in February that it was considering selling itself.

  • EnVu and CBL partner on interactive media program

    New York City -- Interactive media company enVu said it has partnered with mall owner CBL & Associates Properties to deploy an immersive advertising platform, enSpire, within select CBL shopping centers located throughout the nation’s Top 20 designated market areas.

    The enSpire platform utilizes interactive floor projection displays that engage consumer interaction with the featured content while providing a memorable experience for mall visitors and enhancing brand recognition and purchase intent for advertisers.
