  • Ross Dress for Less opens new stores in Washington and Oregon

    Dublin, Calif. -- Ross Dress for Less opened two new stores in the Pacific Northwest on July 19. The stores opening are in Columbia Crossing in East Vancouver, Washington, and Pioneer Crossing in Bend, Oregon.    

    These new openings are part of the retailer’s 2014 expansion program, totaling approximately 75 new locations during the year.

     

  • RetailMeNot: Parents spend $659 annually on school supplies

    Austin, Texas – Parents spend, on average, $659 on school-related costs throughout the year per family. According to a survey from digital coupon provider RetailMeNot, 67% of parents start their back-to-school shopping by the end of July, which is down slightly from 2013 (71%).

  • Loblaw promotes Joe Fresh COO to brand president

    Toronto - Loblaw Companies Ltd., owner of the Joe Fresh brand, has promoted Mario Grauso to president of Joe Fresh. He was previously COO of the brand.

    In his new role, Grauso oversees business strategy, operations, marketing, international development, merchandising, sourcing and design functions at Joe Fresh.

     

  • Loblaw taps new president for Joe Fresh brand

    Loblaw, owner of the Joe Fresh brand, has promoted Mario Grauso to president of Joe Fresh. He was previously chief operating officer of the brand.

    Grauso will continue to report to Joe Mimran, president of Joseph Mimran & Associates and creative director of Joe Fresh. In his new role, Grauso oversees business strategy, operations, marketing, international development, merchandising, sourcing and design functions at Joe Fresh.

  • Office Depot names CVS exec Mark Crosby as North America president

    Boca Raton, Fla. – Office Depot Inc. has named retail veteran Mark Cosby as president, North America. Cosby, 55, most recently served as president of pharmacy at CVS Caremark. He will be a member of Office Depot’s executive committee and leadership team and report to Roland Smith, chairman and CEO of Office Depot.

    Cosby joins Office Depot following a 30-year career at a number of leading retail chains. Prior to CVS, Cosby spent five years at Macy’s Inc., where he served in a number of executive roles, including president, stores.

  • Kimco Realty buys 10 shopping centers for $276 million

    New Hyde Park, N.Y. - Kimco Realty Corp. has acquired a portfolio of 10 shopping centers from its joint venture with SEB Asset Management for $275.8 million, including $193.6 million of mortgage debt. Kimco, which previously held a 15% ownership interest in the properties, paid approximately $69.8 million for the remaining 85% equity interest held by SEB Asset Management, the group’s specialist real estate manager.

  • Shopko launches fashion blog

    Shopko is looking to drive traffic to its stores and e-commerce site with the launch of a new fashion blog called TREND.spire. The blog offers shoppers tips on how to put outfits together with pieces from either bricks-and-mortar locations or online.

  • Mid-America arranges sale of Wanamaker Shopping Center

    Topeka, Kan. -- Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s Investment Sales team recently brokered the sale of Wanamaker Shopping Center in Topeka, Kansas.  The regional shopping center was purchased for $18 million by Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Equity Investment Group.

    The 269,875-sq.-ft. center is anchored by Big Kmart, Hobby Lobby, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
