  • Lumber Liquidators has solid Q4; will open 30-40 stores

    Toano, Va. – Lumber Liquidators reported impressive results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2013. For the quarter, net income increased 50.6% to $20.8 million, from $13.8 million in the fourth quarter of the prior year.

    Net sales increased $47.8 million to $258.4 million in fourth quarter 2013, from $210.7 million in fourth quarter 2012. Same-store sales increased 15.6% for the quarter, driven by an 8.6% increase in the number of customers invoiced and a 7% increase in the average sale.

  • Lowe’s gears up for its busiest season

    A week after rival Home Depot announced plans to 80,000 seasonal spring employees, Lowe’s announced its plans to hire approximately 25,000 seasonal employees at its U.S. stores for the busy spring season.

    Seasonal jobs available are focused on customer support and include cashiers, lawn and garden employees, loaders and stockers.

    Atlanta - The Home Depot has begun filling more than 80,000 seasonal positions as it prepares for spring, the company's busiest selling season. Job opportunities are available on a market-by-market basis, based on individual store needs and geographical variance in climate.

    Home Depot says college students, retirees, veterans and reservists are encouraged to apply. All applicants must apply online. The retailer also hired 80,000 seasonal employees in spring 2012.

    Toronto - The Home Depot Canada is currently hiring 6,300 associates across all 180 locations to support its spring season. The company is hiring full-time, part-time and seasonal positions, such as sales associates, cashiers, design professionals, department supervisors and night operators.

    Job opportunities are available on a market-by-market basis and are based on individual store needs.
