  • Sears to own 80% of OSH

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Reuters news service has reported that the shareholders of Sears Holding Corp. will end up with 80% of the common stock in Orchard Supply Hardware stores, following an attempt to spin off the California hardware chain into a separate unit.

  • Report: Tesco postpones opening wholesale stores in India

    Mumbai, India -- A Monday report by Reuters said that the world’s third-largest retailer Tesco Plc has delayed its plans to set up wholesale stores in India, as it faces mountains of political red tape and controversy in the country.

    Reuters, citing a report in the Business Standard newspaper, said that the supermarket giant will instead focus on setting up warehouses and back-end infrastructure. 

  • Sears board approves spin-off of Orchard Supply Hardware

    New York City -- The board of Sears Holdings Corp has approved the spinoff of Sears’ Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp.

    Sears announced its intention to spin off the 89-store hardware store chain in June, saying both companies could better focus on their goals as separate firms.

    The Holiday Shopping Season got off to a fast start with sales numbers increasing by 6.6% compared with last year, according to Shopper Trak. Promotional activity started earlier than usual and helped shoppers stay in the know as to where they could find the best deals. Leading up to Black Friday, increases were seen in print for both page counts and circular drops in many instances. In digital there were increases in volume and frequency of online, email and social promotions.  

  • Bear Creek Running Co. to open at Keller Town Center

    Keller, Texas -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said that Bear Creek Running Co. will open a new store at Keller Town Center, located in Keller, Texas.

    The new 1,200-sq.-ft. store is slated to open Jan. 2012.

    Keller Town Center is a 114,937-sq.-ft. shopping center anchored by a 63,631-sq.-ft. Tom Thumb alongside national retailers such as Starbucks, Pizza Hut and RadioShack.

    Dallas -- Online menswear retailer Big Tall Direct said Friday it has partnered with TrustPilot to measure customer satisfaction.

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears Holdings announced that it will help make customers' "green" go further this Green Monday (Dec. 12) at Sears.com and Kmart.com.

    Shoppers can take advantage of up to 70% off across popular categories available on Sears.com and Kmart.com on more than 500 deals that are as good as Cyber Monday prices, the company reported.
