  • Chico’s FAS enters Canada with White House Black Market

    New York -- Chico's FAS is expanding outside of the United States, opening a White House Black Market store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Toronto on Oct. 24. The women's apparel retailer will open its second Canadian location at Square One, Mississauga on Oct. 29, followed by Upper Canada Mall, Newmarket on November 12.

    Yorkdale Shopping Centre and Square One are owned by Oxford Properties Group and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo).Upper Canada Mall is owned by Oxford Properties Group and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).

The women's apparel retailer is opening a White House Black Market store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Toronto on Oct. 24, and will follow it up with an opening at Square One, Mississauga on Oct. 29, as well as an opening at Upper Canada Mall, Newmarket on November 12.

  • Study: Physical stores still key to consumers in omnichannel world

    Chicago -- Consumers value the retail store experience on multiple levels and continue to make the vast majority of their purchases in stores, according to a new study from global management consulting firm A.T. Kearney. The report found that the physical store is the channel of choice across all ages (from Millennial to senior citizens) and household income levels (from less than $25,000 per year to more than $100,000 per year).

  • Dd’s Discounts opens nine new locations

    Pleasanton, Calif. — Dd’s Discounts recently opened nine new locations across five states as part of the retailer’s 2013 expansion program totaling 23 new locations.

    The retailer now operates 131 locations in eight states. The new stores are located in California (4), Texas (2), Arizona (1), Florida (1) and Tennessee (1).

     

  • B&N opens El Paso store Oct. 16

    New York -- Barnes & Noble, Inc. debuts a new bookstore on Oct. 16 at The Fountains at Farah in El Paso, Texas. Concurrently, the existing Eastside store will close.

  • E-commerce, payment fraud high priorities for customer-facing firms

    New York -- E-commerce and payments fraud remains high on the agenda for consumer-facing organizations, according to a recent Deloitte online poll. Nearly half (47%) of executives and managers reported that fraud protection ranks as a "high priority" for their organization, and a further 8% cited this as their organization's number one priority.

  • Saks’ Chicago flagship to debut in-store men’s shop

    Saks Fifth Avenue will unveil its renovated men’s store in its Chicago flagship on Michigan Avenue in January of the new year. The renovation will encompass a total redesign of floors six and seven, creating an open environment that will be easily accessed by a new express elevator that will take passengers directly to the men’s floors.  

  • Revel to offer PayPal as integrated service

    San Francsico -- iPad POS technology provider Revel Systems will offer PayPal’s mobile payment capabilities as an integrated service within the Revel POS solution.

    PayPal’s mobile app, available for iOS and Android, is now directly connected with Revel Systems, allowing users to order ahead at any establishment using Revel’s iPad POS solution. Specific features of the new integration include mobile discovery of nearby businesses accepting PayPal, advance ordering, and PCI-compliant payment security.
