  • Five Below enters Tennessee

    As part of its 2014 expansion plans, teen and tween retailer Five Below has its eye set on the Tennessee market and will be opening five new stores there by spring.

  • WinCo enters Dallas-Fort Worth market

    Boise, Idaho - WinCo Foods, LLC will open its first discount supermarkets in the state of Texas on Feb. 6, in the cities of Fort Worth and McKinney. The stores are each approximately 95,000 sq. ft. in size and include WinCo's newest decor package creating an efficient, clean feel that highlights product and coordinates with the hundreds of WinCo Foods private label products the company has recently introduced.

  • PriceSmart to open two stores in Colombia

    San Diego – On Jan. 30, 2014, PriceSmart, Inc. acquired approximately 147,000 usable sq. ft. of land in the city of Medellin, Colombia, and leased approximately 126,000 usable sq. ft. of land in the city of Bogota, Colombia, upon which the company plans to construct two new warehouse club stores. These two warehouse clubs are currently planned to open before the end of calendar year 2014.

  • Sports Authority names Hhgregg exec as CFO

    New York -- Sports Authority has hired Jeremy Aguilar as CFO. Aguilar, who most recently served as CFO of Hhgregg, replaces former Sports Authority CFO Tom Hendrickson, who retired from the company.

    “Jeremy’s expertise in finance and accounting will play a critical role in further strengthening Sports Authority,” said CEO Michael E. Foss. “He will be a valuable asset to the team; we are thrilled to have him on board.”

  • WinCo to make debut in Texas

    WinCo Foods plans to open its first discount supermarkets in Texas at 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6. The 95,000-sq.-ft. stores will feature the company’s newest décor which highlights its project offering.

    The Ft. Worth store, located at 8000 Crowley Lane, will initially employ approximately 180 individuals, 170 of whom are local hires, and the McKinney store, located at 1800 N. Graves St., will open with approximately 170 employees, 160 of whom are local hires.

  • DSW takes Waugh Chapel Towne Centre to 100%

    Owings Mills, Md. — Designer Shoe Warehouse has inked a deal to open a new store at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre in Gambrills, Md., between Annapolis and Baltimore, this summer. DSW has leased a 10,010-sq.-ft. space that the property’s owner Greenberg Gibbons will expand to 16,680 sq. ft. The deal leases the project up to 100%.

  • Tuesday Morning ‘pleased’ with progress in second quarter

    Tuesday Morning is starting to see the results of its turnaround strategy, which involved the company exiting a number of non-core categories, such as women’s apparel and footwear.

    In the second quarter of fiscal 2014, comparable sales in ongoing core categories increased 7% and were led by exceptional strength in furniture, up 57%; sheets and linens, up 23%; and home décor, up 20%.   

  • Tuesday Morning swings net loss to profit

    Dallas – Tuesday Morning reported net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2014 of $17.7 million, compared to a net loss of $21.5 million in the same period last year. The company's net sales were $285.8 million, essentially flat with $285.3 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2013.
