    Tuesday Morning Corporation has appointed former Home Depot executive Melissa Phillips as EVP and general merchandise manager. Phillips will report directly to CEO Michael Rouleau.

    The recent announcement from Coldwater Creek that the women’s apparel brand will seek Chapter 11 protection and plans to start liquidating its inventory didn’t exactly come as a surprise. It has been years since the company posted a quarterly profit, and industry analysts and observers have been pointing to Coldwater’s worrying inability to compete stylistically in an increasingly competitive and youth-oriented women’s fashion market.

  • The Children’s Place to SkyView Center in Queens, N.Y.

    Queens, N.Y. — The Children’s Place has leased a 3,799-sq.-ft. space near other child focused retailers at The Shops at SkyView Center in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens, N.Y. The retailer plans to open in May.

  • Mid-America brokers sale of Milwaukee MSA center

    MilwaukeeMid-America Real Estate Corporation’s investment sales team has brokered the final sales phase of The Shoppes of Nagawaukee in Delafield, Wis. This was the third transaction consummated on behalf of the seller, Told Development, for this shopping center since 2012.

  • Five Below to Wards Crossing West in Lynchburg, Va.

    Lynchburg, Va. — Five Below has signed a 7,732-sq.-ft. lease at Wards Crossing West shopping center in Lynchburg, Va. It will be Five Below’s first store in the Lynchburg trade area.

    Divaris Real Estate’s Richmond office represented Five Below in the transaction. DRE is the exclusive representative for Five Below in southwest Virginia.

    Old Bridge, N.J. — Retail leasing specialists R.J. Brunelli & Co. has announced the promotion of Nick DeLuca to sales associate.

  • Buy Rite Liquor to Capitol Plaza in Ewing, N.J.

    Ewing, N.J. — Giant Wine & Liquor, doing business as Buy Rite Liquor, has leased 6,000 sq. ft. at the 360,000-sq.-ft. Capitol Plaza in Ewing, N.J. Levin Management, the exclusive leasing and managing agent for the center negotiated the long-term lease.

  • Report: California shopping center to expand use permit

    Woodland, Calif. – The Gateway Shopping Center in Woodland, Calif. has reportedly received permission to expand the types of businesses allowed in its use permit. According to the Woodland Daily Democrat, the Woodland Planning Commission is granting approval for food services, banks, professional service offices, nail salons and dry cleaners to be located at the center.

    RadioShack and Payless Shoes are also reportedly awaiting approval to open stores at the center.
