  • CBRE sells Westover Marketplace in San Antonio

    Los AngelesCBRE’s nation retail investment group has announced the sale of San Antonio’s Westover Marketplace Shopping Center on behalf of Coventry Real Estate Advisors. Inland American purchased the 242,664-sq.-ft. property for an undisclosed price.

    The Class A regional power center resides inside the Westover Hills master-planned development. It is 93.4% occupied.

  • WinCo opens second Bakersfield, Calif., store March 27

    Boise, Idaho - WinCo Foods LLC will open its newest discount supermarket on March 27. The 88,000-sq.-ft. store is the company's second in Bakersfield and reflects WinCo's newer décor package creating a solid, clean feel, which highlights the product, including the hundreds of new WinCo Foods private label items the company has recently introduced.  

  • Family Dollar names food exec to VP supply chain

    Matthews, N.C. - Family Dollar Stores Inc. has named Brian D. Hancock to the position of senior VP supply chain. Hancock will report to Howard R. Levine, chairman and CEO.

  • Nordstrom delays Rack debut in Canada until 2017

    New York -- Nordstrom Inc. is delaying the opening of its Nordstrom Rack chain in Canada until 2017, in order to focus its attention on the launch of its full-line department stores there, The Globe and Mail reported.

    Nordstrom had initially planned to start opening Rack stores in Canada next year. But the company has decided to focus on  the openings of its six Canadian department stores (the first, in Calgary, is due to open this fall).

  • Burlington Coat Factory net income drops in Q4; will open 25 net new stores

    Burlington, N.J. – Burlington Coat Factory saw a 36% decline in its fourth quarter net income, which fell to $16.1 million from $25.3 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2012. The retailer plans to open 25 net new stores during fiscal 2014, including 22 in the fall, two in May and one in April.

  • Iconic Vegas mall to receive major renovation

    Las Vegas -- 1960s-era The Boulevard Mall will receive a $25 million makeover in hopes of prompting an overall redevelopment of the Maryland Parkway corridor of Las Vegas.

    The rehab, to be launched by owner Sansone Cos., which acquired the mall last December for $54.5 million, will be the property’s first major renovation in more than two decades. Sansone is looking at the renovation of the Boulevard as a catalyst in the overall redevelopment effort of the Maryland Parkway corridor.

  • Sam’s Club, Amazon top retail customer experience rankings

    Waban, Mass. -- Sam's Club and Amazon.com deliver the best customer experience in the retail industry, according to the 2014 Temkin Experience Ratings, an annual ranking of companies based on a study of 10,000 U.S. consumers. Sam's Club and Amazon.com continue their reign as the highest-rated retailers for the third straight year, each earning an "excellent" rating.

  • Banana Republic to open in Yonkers, N.Y., development

    Yonkers, N.Y. – Banana Republic will become a new retailer at the Ridge Hill shopping center in Yonkers, N.Y. Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC), the developer and owner of Ridge Hill, said the Banana Republic location will open beneath the center's Uniqlo store.
