  • Nordstrom to close two stores

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to close it's store in Lloyd Center Mall, Portland, Ore., and its store in Vancouver Mall, Vancouver, Wash. Both locations will close in January 2015.

    "This was a tough decision to make because we've been doing business in Lloyd Center and Vancouver Mall for a long time and we care about the community, our customers and our employyees here," said Ed Nordstrom, president of stores.

  • Report: Target exec apologizes for breach in Senate testimony

    Minneapolis – John Mulligan, executive VP and CFO of Target, said the retailer is deeply sorry for its late 2013 data security breach and is aware that consumer confidence in the company is shaken; his comments came during Feb. 4 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

    According to Reuters, Mulligan also said that Target discovered 25 registers infected with malware on Dec. 18, contradicting an earlier statement from the retailer that all malware had been removed by Dec. 15.

  • Nordstrom Rack to make Delaware debut

    New York -- Seattle-based Nordstrom plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at Christiana Fashion Center in Newark, Del. The approximately 35,000-sq.-ft. store, which is scheduled to open in fall 2015, is the company’s first Rack location in the state.

    The single-level, newly built Nordstrom Rack is located at the intersection of Interstate 95 and Route 1, adjacent to Christiana Mall and will be surrounded by a strong tenant mix.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods to Western, Pa.’s Monroeville Mall

    Chattanooga, Tenn. — Dick’s Sporting Goods is moving across the street from the periphery of the Monroeville Mall in Monroeville, Pa., into the mall, according to CBL & Associates Properties, the mall’s owner. The existing Dick’s Sporting Goods will remain open until the new store completes construction. Plans call for a grand opening this summer.

  • JCP scores first quarterly gain since 2011

    J.C. Penney scored its first positive quarterly sales result since 2011, reporting a same-store sales increase of 2% in the fourth quarter, which included the holiday season.

  • Wet Seal director resigns for retail CEO role

    Foothill Ranch, Calif. -- Mindy C. Meads has resigned from the board of directors of The Wet Seal, effective Feb. 4, in order to focus on her new role as CEO of specialty women’s apparel retailer Calypso St. Barth.
