  • Century 21 teams up with Hobson to offer same-day delivery in Manhattan

    New York -- Century 21 Department Store has joined forces with retail concierge service Hobson to offer same-day delivery to hotels and homes in Manhattan from the retailer’s downtown flagship location.

  • CPG Holiday Forecast: Humbug sales, with only 2.9% growth

    New Canaan, Conn. -- Continuing a two-year slide in retail spending momentum, American shoppers will generate only a lackluster 2.9% rise in holiday sales, according to Customer Growth Partners’ 13th Annual Holiday Forecast. The CPG report paints a scenario that is decidedly less cheery than some of the other holiday forecasts that have been released to date.

  • Neiman Marcus teams up with 3D printing company in holiday offer

    New York -- Neiman Marcus and 3D printing marketplace Shapeways have teamed together to offer a limited holiday collection.

    The collection consists of two pieces available in Shapeways’ 3D Printed metal finishes: A monogrammed silver heart pendant necklace that can be customized with initials, and an orb stainless steel sculpture paperweight. Both items are made by Shapeways' 3D Printing and feature its prin.

  • J.C. Penney earns Energy Star certification for over 500 stores

    Plano, Texas -- J.C. Penney has secured Energy Star certifications in over 500 stores, one supply chain facility and its home office, far surpassing the company’s initial goal of having 400 locations certified by the end of 2013. (The Environmental Protection Agency awards Energy Star certification to buildings that rank within the top 25% of similar commercial buildings nationwide by meeting strict energy performance levels set by the EPA.)

  • Lifestyle/Trimco/Viaggio merges with Almax to form Global Visual Group

    Brooklyn, N.Y. -- Lifestyle/Trimco/Viaggio, the Brooklyn, N.Y.-based manufacturer of mannequins, forms, specialty fixtures, fabric applications, seasonal trim and holiday décor, has merged with Almax, the world-renowned mannequin company based in Italy.
     
    The new company, Global Visual Group, will make its debut at A.R.E.’s Retail Design Collective, which will be in New York City, December 4-6, 2013.   

  • NRF: September sales up in most retail sectors, excluding auto

    Washington, D.C. – Retail sales fell in September for the first time in six months, but the decline was credited to a drop-off in auto purchases. Most U.S. retail sectors experienced broad sales gains during the month, according to the National Retail, which reported that,  excluding automobiles, gas stations and restaurants, retail sales grew a seasonally 0.6% compared to the previous month and 3.8% unadjusted compared to the prior year.

  • Lululemon names Kmart exec as chief product officer

    New York -- Lululemon has named Tara Poseley as chief product officer. She most recently served as president of Kmart Apparel, where she was responsible for the launch of several new product collections to attract a younger and multi-cultural customer.

    Previously, she held the position of interim president at Bebe Stores, president of Disney Stores North America (The Children’s Place) and CEO of Design Within Reach (DWR).

    In her role at Lululemon, Poseley will oversee the company’s global merchandising and design strategy.

  • Q&A with Joseph Coradino, CEO of PREIT

    Joseph Coradino stepped up to the post of CEO at Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust in June of 2012. At the time, he had been with PREIT and a predecessor company for three decades. Since 2004, he had served as president of PREIT Services and PREIT-RUBIN. He had been a Trustee since 2006.
