  • Energy Kitchen to open at Suniland Shopping Center

    Miami Beach, Fla. -- Terranova Corp. announced that healthy fast-food chain Energy Kitchen will open a new 2,500-sq.-ft. restaurant at Suniland Shopping Center, located in Miami Beach, Fla.

    The new store will be Energy Kitchen’s first in south Florida. The New York City-based chain operates 10 stores in the New York City area, with, according to Energy Kitchen, approximately 55 stores in development in Florida, Washington D.C., Boston, White Plains, Long Island and Maryland.

  • Ollie’s Bargain Outlet to open at River Plaza

    Union, N.Y. -- North Plainfield, N.J.-based Levin Management Corp. said that Ollie’s Bargain Outlet has leased 29,423 sq. ft. at the River Plaza shopping center in Union, N.Y.

    The Mid-Atlantic’s largest retailer of closeout, surplus and salvage merchandise, Ollie’s will open at the 177,871-sq.-ft., Home-Depot-anchored property in September of this year – filling a key anchor vacancy.

  • McAlister’s Deli to open at Cochran Commons

    Charlotte, N.C. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said McAlister’s Deli has leased restaurant space at Cochran Commons in Charlotte, N.C.

    McAlister’s Deli has leased 3,600 sq. ft. and is slated to open this summer.

    Cochran Commons is a 66,020-sq.-ft. Harris Teeter-anchored shopping center that also features Great Clips, Caribou Coffee and Walgreens.

  • RILA praises Quinn for signing e-Fairness Legislation

    Arlington, Va. -- The Retail Industry Leaders Association on Thursday praised Illinois Governor Pat Quinn for signing the e-Fairness legislation, which addresses the long-standing inequity in the retail sales industry between brick-and-mortar retailers and their online-only counterparts.

  • Morrisons invests in online grocer FreshDirect

    London -- Wm. Morrison Supermarkets PLC said Thursday that it has acquired a 10% stake in U.S. online grocer FreshDirect, based in New York City.

    According to Morrison, the U.K. fourth-largest supermarket chain, the acquisition marks its debut in the online food market.

    Morrison has also announced plans to test a c-store format and to expand its grocery store counts in order to increase its presence in the U.K grocery market.

  • Dollar Super Store to open at Santa Fe Springs Marketplace

    Whittier, Calif. -- Watt Commercial Properties said that it has signed Dollar Super Store to a five-year lease for 5,762 sq. ft. of space at Santa Fe Springs Marketplace, an 144,261-sq.-ft. retail center located in Whittier, Calif.

    Santa Fe Springs Marketplace is 97% leased to several tenants including Food 4 Less, Rite Aid, O’Reilly and Frazee Paint.

  • Caruso Affiliated launches construction of mixed-use project

    Los Angeles -- Caruso Affiliated said it has begun construction on 8500 Burton Way, an upscale residential and ground-floor retail property featuring Trader Joe’s, located in a flourishing region of Los Angeles, adjacent to Beverly Hills.

    The eight-story building combines contemporary architectural elements with rich materials, and is moving forward at a time when most other commercial development has stalled.

  • New tenants to open at Darby Town Center

    Darby, Pa. -- Metro Commercial Real Estate announced it has negotiated new new leases totaling 33,113 sq. ft. at the new Darby Town Center, located in Darby, Pa. 

    The 142,000-sq.-ft., Save-A-Lot-anchored center, which had its grand opening on December 9, 2010, will also be home to a new 10,000-sq.-ft Dollar Tree. A new 3,961-sq.-ft. lease was also completed for Hair World and Popeye’s will also lease approximately 2,152 sq. ft.
