    Minneapolis -- Best Buy Co. said Friday it has named Stephen Gillett as executive VP and president of Best Buy Digital and Global Business Services, effective March 14.

    Gillett was previously executive VP Digital Ventures, and chief information officer at Starbucks, charged with leading the company’s efforts to enhance the overall global business operations and improve the customer experience through the use of innovative technology and digital experiences worldwide.

  • Discover Mills to celebrate grand re-opening of Lego Store

    Lawrenceville, Ga. -- The Lego Group announced the grand re-opening of its Lego store on March 16 at Discover Mills, Atlanta’s largest outlet, value retail and entertainment destination.

    The Lego store will now be located near The Disney Store and Gymboree Outlets and features innovative displays, in-store family events and shopper-friendly play areas.

  • Modell’s Sporting Goods to open three new stores, adds staff

    New York City -- Modell’s Sporting Goods said Tuesday it will celebrate the grand opening of three new locations in Brooklyn, N.Y., Fresh Meadows, N.Y., and Wayne, N.J., on March 8.

    The Fresh Meadows store measures 13,000 sq. ft., the Wayne store is 16,700 sq. ft., and the Brooklyn store is 15,900 sq. ft.

  • Mid-America Real Estate closes sale of Stone Creek Towne Center

    Cincinnati -- Mid-America Real Estate Corp.’s Investments Sales Group announced the recent sale of Stone Creek Towne Center located in Cincinnati.

    The property was purchased by Oakbrook, Ill.-based Inland Real Estate for $36 million from a joint venture between Brandicorp and Trinity Development Co.

  • Jones Lang LaSalle executive named receiver of Eastpoint Mall

    Baltimore -- Atlanta-based Jones Lang LaSalle Retail announced that its president Greg Maloney has been appointed receiver of the Eastpoint Mall located in Baltimore County. Under Maloney’s leadership, Jones Lang LaSalle’s retail leasing and management team will assume immediate oversight of the mall and help stabilize the asset.
