  • Dick’s Sporting Goods to anchor new phase of Alliance Town Center

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Fort Worth-based Trademark Property Co. said Tuesday that Dick’s Sporting Goods will open at Alliance Town Center, located in North Fort Worth.

    The 50,000-sq.-ft. store will anchor a 140,000-sq.-ft. Phase 2 of the center. Construction on Dick’s is scheduled to begin in July with opening set for summer 2013.

    Alliance Town Center, currently 800,000 sq. ft., is a joint venture of Hillwood and Trademark, and is part of the 17,000-acre Alliance, Texas, master-planned community.

  • Harris Teeter to make Goldsboro market debut

    Goldsboro, N.C. -- Casto announced that Harris Teeter will open a 53,000-sq.-ft. store at Memorial Commons, located in Goldsboro, N.C. It is the grocer’s first store in the market.

    Harris Teeter is slated to open late 2013, and will join Office Depot, Subway, Starbucks and T-Mobile.

    Memorial Commons, a joint venture of Casto and 1st Carolina Properties, is a new neighborhood center located at the gateway to Wayne Memorial Hospital and Wayne County Community College.
     

  • HomeGoods to anchor Edgewater Harbor

    Edgewater, N.J. -- North Plainfield, N.J.-based Levin Management Corp. announced that HomeGoods, a TJX Cos. banner, will anchor the 100,000-sq.-ft. retail component of Edgewater Harbor, a mixed-use waterfront redevelopment in Edgewater, N.J.

    HomeGoods has leased 24,000 sq. ft. and will join newly opened CVS Pharmacy, Moe's Southwest Grill, AT&T, Beach Bum Tanning, Epique Massage and Edgewater Dry Cleaners.

  • Best Buy Mobile expands into China

    MINNEAPOLIS — Best Buy, which at its recent shareholders' meeting said it would offer more technology services, has announced that it is expanding the Best Buy Mobile brand and store-within-a-store concept into 14 Five Star stores throughout Nanjing, China, this summer.

    The expansion of Best Buy Mobile into the Chinese market is the first evolution of Global Connect, a partnership that was formed in November 2011 between Best Buy and Carphone Warehouse.

  • Bahama Breeze to open first unit in Virginia

    Woodbridge, Va. -- Island-inspired restaurateur Bahama Breeze will make its Virginia debut with a freestanding location at Potomac Mills, the largest outlet and value retail shopping destination in Virginia.

    The new location will be adjacent to The Cheesecake Factory and a first-in-market Bobby’s Burger Palace opening this November in a new plaza to be developed on the south side of Potomac Mills.

  • Pottery Barn among new tenants at Chestnut Hill Shopping Center

    Chestnut Hill, Mass. -- WS Development said that Pottery Barn, along with Swedish children’s apparel retailer Polarn O. Pyret and locally based Treat Cupcake Bar, will open at its Chestnut Hill Shopping Center.

    The new stores are scheduled to open in spring 2013 in a new building at the site of the former Macy’s.
     
    Other new stores to open in the 406,000-sq.-ft. shopping and dining destination include The Sports Club/LA, Cinema de Lux, Shake Shack, Pinkberry, and gourmet Asian restaurant Bernard’s.

  • Ritz Camera files for bankruptcy; to close 128 stores

    New York -- Ritz Camera & Image has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. As part of its restructuring, the company, which has 265 stores in 34 states, plans to close 128 locations and cut its staff of 2,000 in half.

    This is the second time Ritz has sought protection under the bankruptcy laws, having emerged from Chapter 11 two years ago.

  • Coinstar completes $100 million deal for NCR's DVD kiosks

    Bellevue, Wash. -- Coinstar Inc. said Monday it has completed its $100 million acquisition of DVD rental kiosks and other assets from rival NCR Corp.
     
    Under the terms of the deal, Coinstar will buy products and services from NCR. According to Coinstar, the addition of the kiosks will allow its Redbox DVD rental kiosks to expand to new retail partners.
