  • MarketPlace Development to overhaul LaGuardia stores

    New York - Retail developer MarketPlace Development announced that the food and stores at LaGuardia Airport's Terminal B will receive a major overhaul in 2014. With a new terminal slated to start construction in 2015, the redevelopment will provide upgrades for the existing aging terminal, including new shops and restaurants, enhanced amenities and infrastructure upgrades for HVAC and escalators in the food courts.

  • Divaris Real Estate signs new retail tenants for Virginia Beach site

    Virginia Beach, Va. - Divaris Real Estate Inc. has signed a lease with Twist Martini & Associates for 2,442 sq. ft. of retail space in the Town Center of Virginia Beach. Twist Martini will operate a full-menu, dine-in restaurant including a martini bar, a cigar club, an outside patio area and a private lounge on the second floor. 

  • Home Depot launches connected home initiative

    Nearly 2,000 Home Depot stores in the U.S. began offering a wide range of connected home devices that run on the Wink platform on July 7.

    The Wink platform unites close to 60 devices, creating the broadest set of connected home products in one ecosystem, with fifteen leading manufacturers of home products ranging from light bulbs and locks to window shades, irrigation systems and water heaters, according to Wink and Home Depot.

  • Marketplace at Tech Center draws 18 retailers; opens July 2015

    Newport News, Va. - Marketplace at Tech Center, a mixed-use lifestyle center Newport News, Va., will be the site of several stores and restaurants that cannot currently be found elsewhere on the Virginia Peninsula. These “first-to-market” retailers (with the exception of those that have outlet stores in Williamsburg) that have inked deals include:

    • Whole Foods: 35,000-sq.-ft. of retail space
    • DSW Shoe Warehouse: 18,062-sq.-ft. of retail space
    • BJ’s Brewhouse: 7,400-sq.-ft. of retail space

  • Warby Parker opens classroom-styled store in Dallas

    New York -- Warby Parker, the hip online eyewear retailer, has opened its sixth retail location, a 1,050-sq.-ft. store in Dallas.

  • Hhgregg teams up with the Colts to honor local veteran

    To honor a decorated Indianapolis veteran and dedicated volunteer with Wish for Our Heroes, Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee and tight end Coby Fleener joined forces with Hhgregg.

    Together, the group transformed the home of retired US Army veteran Erich Orrick, a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient.

  • Joint venture acquires greater Cleveland center

    NEW YORK — Hornig Capital Partners, a privately held New York City-based investment company, has combined in a joint venture with Hutensky Capital Partners of Hartford, Conn. to acquire the Golden Gate Shopping Center in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, in the greater Cleveland region. The joint venture purchased the property from Forest City Enterprises for $47,050,000, together with B&D Holdings, making it one of the largest single asset retail deals in the region during the past 24 months.

  • Mid-America secures retail leases in Chicago’s southwest suburbs

    Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. -- Mid-America Asset Management Inc. has announced three new retail leases on behalf of two shopping centers in Chicago’s southwest suburbs.     

    Flexeon Rehabilitation signed a lease for 2,923 sq. ft. at Hillcrest Shopping Center in Crest Hill, Illinois. The 240,268-sq.-ft. center is anchored by TJ Maxx, Food 4 Less, Citi Trends, and Harbor Freight Tools.
