  • Forever 21 teams with Accertify toward fraud prevention

    Chicago -- Fraud prevention and risk management provider Accertify said Thursday that Forever 21 will deploy its fraud prevention solution, customized to the retailer’s e-commerce business.

    Forever 21 said it is growing its online presence internationally and turned to Accertify, an American Express company, to process and decrease risk in Forever 21’s online transactions.

  • Saks earns customer service distinction

    NEW YORK — Many companies can claim they have excellent customer services, but now Saks Inc. has the award to back that claim up. The company announced that it was recognized at the J.D. Power and Associates Customer Service Roundtable in Orlando, Fla. on March 14 as a 2012 Customer Service Champion—one of only 50 companies to have earned this distinction this year.

  • Casual Male Q4 profit up on charge; plans growth of DXL concept

    Canton, Mass. -- Casual Male Retail Group reported Thursday that net income for the quarter ended Jan. 28 surged to $33.5 million, from $5.3 million in the year-ago period. Without a $23 million trademark impairment charge, net income was $5 million in the quarter.

    The retailer of big & tall men's apparel and accessories also reported flat fourth quarter sales of $111.5 million and a slight same-store sales increase of 0.8%.

  • Ross Stores delivers on value proposition

    PLEASANTON, Calif. — Ross Stores continues to deliver on consumers' demands for value and delivered a profitable fourth quarter that met Wall Street expectations. The company reported that profit for the quarter ended Jan. 28 rose 19% to $192 million, from $161.8 million last year. 

    Sales surged almost 12% to $2.4 billion, and same-store sales increased 7%.

    For the full year, Ross reported a net income rise of 18% to $657.2 million. Sales increased 9% to $8.6 billion, with same-store sales up 5%.

  • Ross reports 19% rise in Q4 profit after strong holiday selling season

    Pleasanton, Calif. -- Ross Stores Inc. reported Thursday that profit for the quarter ended Jan. 28 rose 19% to $192 million, from $161.8 million last year. A profitable holiday season helped boost the discounter’s results, which met Wall Street expectations.

    Sales surged almost 12% to $2.4 billion, and same-store sales increased 7%.

    For the full year, Ross reported a net income rise of 18% to $657.2 million. Sales increased 9% to $8.6 billion, with same-store sales up 5%.

  • New York & Co. swings to loss in Q4, hones focus on outlet business

    Los Angeles -- New York & Co. reported Thursday a loss of $10.9 million in the fourth quarter, compared with net income of $14.9 million a year earlier.

    Sales dropped to $271.8 million, from $303.2 million in the same quarter last year, missing Wall Street’s expected $275 million in revenue. Same-store sales fell 6.3%.

  • Guess profit dips in Q4; to focus on international, G by Guess in 2012

    Los Angeles -- Guess reported Wednesday that net earnings dipped 7.2% to $95.9 million for the quarter ended Jan. 28, compared with $103.3 million a year earlier.

    Revenue for the quarter edged up 2.5% to $775.8 million, from $756.9 million. Same-store sales dropped 5% in the quarter.

    The retailer’s greatest strength came from the performance of its Asian segment, which saw revenue surge 27.5% to $70.6 million in the fourth quarter.

  • Francesca's Q4 profit doubles, on track to open 76 new stores in 2013

    Houston -- Francesca's Holdings Corp. reported Tuesday that profit for the fourth quarter grew nearly 100% to $8.4 million, from $4.3 million in the year-ago period. Results handily beat Wall Street expectations.

    Sales surged in the period almost 55% to $61.7 million, past Wall analysts’ estimated $57.6 million. Same-store sales increased 15%.

    The retailer said it expects to open 76 new boutiques during fiscal year 2013.
