  • LA Fitness to open first Rhode Island location at Garden City

    Cranston, R.I. -- Boston-based The Wilder Cos. said that LA Fitness will make its Rhode Island state debut at Garden City Center, located in Cranston.

    The 38,000-sq.-ft., two-level facility will be located next to Office Max; a former Borders will be demolished to make way for LA Fitness.

    Construction will begin in January 2013 with a late December 2013 or early 2014 opening set.

  • Brown Shoe Company acquires Sam & Libby brand

    New York -- Brown Shoe Company has acquired the Sam & Libby brand and reunited it with its founders, Sam and Libby Edelman. For the last eight years, the brand was owned by The Jones Group.

  • Casual Male outsources store set-up; taps Great American Group to help with DXL store expansion

    Woodland Hills, Calif. -- Casual Male Retail Group is taking a new approach with merchandising and store set-ups for the nationwide roll-out of its DestinationXL (DXL) format, which brings together its value, mid-range and luxury men's apparel under one roof. The chain has outsourced the store set-up function to Great American Group, Woodland Hills, Calif.

    INDIANAPOLIS — The Finish Line has named Scott Hoffman as EVP, chief merchandising officer.

  • iFixandRepair to open at Willow Grove Park

    Willow Grove, Pa. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust said that iFixandRepair will join its Willow Grove Park, Pa., property this fall.

    The 1,077-sq.-ft. store joins other Willow Grove Park wireless electronics retailers such as AT&T, Best Buy Mobile, RadioShack, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.

  • Englewood Construction completes two shopping center projects for General Growth and GK Development

    Chicago -- Englewood Construction has announced its interiors team recently completed work for General Growth Properties at Water Tower Place in Chicago, and for GK Development at the Peru Mall in Peru, Ill.

    In Chicago, Englewood Construction completed a 5,000-sq.-ft. space reconfiguration for landlord General Growth Properties at Water Tower Place on the iconic Magnificent Mile.  Shapiro Associates LTD. of Chicago served as the architect for the project.

  • Nordstrom launches Topshop and Topman

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced it has begun selling the trendy British fashion brand Topshop and Topman at 14 select Nordstrom stores across the country and on its website. Merchandise deliveries will be made on a weekly basis, with an expanded collection available online.

    In addition, the Topshop make-up collection will launch in select stores and online in late 2012.
