  • Saks dresses up new Fla. store

    SARASOTA, Fla. — Saks Fifth Avenue has revealed more details about its new two-level, 80,000 sq. ft. store in The Mall at University Town Center in Sarasota, Fla., which is presently under construction at the intersection of I-75 and University Parkway. The Mall at University Town Center is being co-developed by Taubman Centers and Benderson Development and is scheduled to open Oct. 16, 2014.

  • Brown Shoe swings to profit in Q4

    St. Louis -- Brown Shoe Co. reported Friday that net income of the fourth quarter was $4 million, compared with a loss of $8.2 million in the year-ago period.

    Sales rose to $640.2 million from $628.9 million.

    For full year 2012, profit edged up to $27.5 million from $24.6 million. Sales increased to $2.59 billion from $2.58 billion.

  • Hibbett Sports Q4 income up 22%; to open 65 to 70 stores

    Birmingham, Ala. -- Hibbett Sports reported that net income for its fiscal fourth quarter increased a better-than-expected 22.3% to $19.4 million, compared with $15.8 million for the same period last year.

    Net sales for the fourth quarter increased 14% to $217.4 million from $190.7 million in the year ago period. Same-store sales increased 4.9%.

    Looking ahead, in its current fiscal year, the company expects to open 65 to 70 new stores, expand approximately 18 high-performing stores and close 15 to 20 stores.

  • Hibbett scores high on earnings, sales in Q4

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Hibbett Sports reported that net sales for the fourth quarter increased 14% to $217.4 million compared with $190.7 million for the same period last year. Comparable-store sales increased 4.9% on a 13-week to 13-week period.

    Net income for the quarter increased 22.3% to $19.4 million compared with $15.8 million for the same period last year. Earnings per diluted share increased 23.7% to 73 cents for the quarter compared with 59 cents for the same period last year. 

  • Citi Trends narrows loss in Q4

    Savannah, Ga. -- Citi Trends reported Friday a fourth quarter loss of $704,000, narrowed from a $5.3 million loss in the same period last year.

    Revenue slipped 2% to $175.7 million, meeting Wall Street forecasts. Same-store sales plummeted 11.8%.

     

  • Sales take a dive at Aeropostale

    NEW YORK — Aeropostale reported that net sales for the fourth quarter decreased 1% to $797.7 million, from $808.4 million in the year ago period. Fourth quarter comparable sales, including the e-commerce channel, decreased 8% compared with a 7% decrease for the corresponding 14-week period of the prior year.  Fourth quarter comparable store sales, excluding the e-commerce channel, decreased 9%, compared to a decrease of 9% for the corresponding 14-week period of the prior year. 

  • Men’s Wearhouse narrows Q4 loss, K&G for sale

    Unable to recover from a slow start to the fourth quarter, Men’s Wearhouse reported a 1% same store sales increase and a worse than expected loss of 7 cents a share.
