  • JCPenney boosts apparel position with Claiborne deal

    PLANO, Texas — JCPenney Co. said Wednesday it will acquire the worldwide rights for the Liz Claiborne family of brands, as well as the United States and Puerto Rico rights for the Monet brand for $267.5 million.

    The company has been the exclusive licensee for all Liz Claiborne and Claiborne-branded merchandise in the United States and Puerto Rico since August 2010.

  • Gap to open first Chile stores

    San Francisco -- Gap said Wednesday it will advance its expansion in Latin America with new store openings in Chile in October, and will introduce Gap and Banana Republic stores to Panama and Colombia in 2012.

    “We believe substantial opportunity exists in Latin America and our first stores in Chile, Panama and Colombia will allow us to establish a foundation for further growth in this region,” said Stephen Sunnucks, president, International, Gap.

  • Bill Clinton to deliver keynote at NRF Annual Convention

    New York City -- The National Retail Federation has announced that President Bill Clinton will deliver the keynote address at the NRF’s 101st Annual Convention in New York City.

    Clinton, who will speak on "Embracing our Common Humanity,” will deliver his address on Jan 16, 11 a.m. 12 p.m.

  • Red Door Spas names COO

    Stamford, Conn. -- Spa operator Red Door Spas said Tuesday it has named Jeff Kohl as its senior VP and COO. Kohl is charged with directing all Red Door Spa operations globally, including strategic partnership development and management of the company's 31 full-service spa and salon properties and 1,500+ spa associates.

    He will report to Todd Walter, CEO of Red Door Spa Holdings.

    Kohl was previously director of global hospitality sales for Precor.
     

  • Walgreens adds former CIGNA CMO and specialty pharmacy vet to team

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Tuesday named Jeffrey Kang and Mike Ellis to its pharmacy, health and wellness division.

    Kang will join Walgreens Oct. 31 as SVP health and wellness services and solutions, reporting to both president and CEO Greg Wasson and president of pharmacy, health and wellness Kermit Crawford.

    In addition, Mike Ellis has joined Walgreens as VP specialty pharmacy and infusion, reporting to Crawford.

  • Walgreens names exec additions to pharmacy, health and wellness division

    Deerfield, Ill. -- Walgreen Co. said Tuesday it has added two executives to its pharmacy, health and wellness division.

    Dr. Jeffrey Kang will join the company on Oct. 31 as senior VP health and wellness services and solutions.

    In addition, Mike Ellis has joined Walgreens as VP specialty pharmacy and infusion.

    Most recently, Kang was chief medical officer at CIGNA. Ellis has served as senior VP specialty trade relations and contracting and pharmaceutical services for CVS Caremark.

  • Tuesday Morning Q1 sales dip 1.2%

    Dallas -- Tuesday Morning Corp. reported Tuesday that net sales for the quarter ended Sept. 30 edged down 1.2% to $170.7 million, compared with $172.8 million in the year-ago period.

    Same-store sales for the period declined 4.1%, comprised of a 5.2% decrease in traffic offset by a 1.1% increase in average ticket.
