  • Williams-Sonoma launches new brand of personalized gifts and accessories

    San Francisco -- Williams-Sonoma said Thursday it has launched a new direct-to-consumer gifts and accessories brand called Mark and Graham. The brand will debut with its own direct mail catalog and website.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods announces three new store opening

    New York -- Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. opened three stores, including one relocated store, on Nov. 7. Of the two new stores, one was located at Stoneridge Village, Jefferson City, Mo.; and the other at Spokane Valley Mall, Spokane, Wash. The retailer relocated its N. Springboro Pike store to Dayton Mall, Dayton, Ohio.

    In October, Dick’s celebrated the opening of 17 stores throughout the United States.

     

  • Walmart to sell hypertension drugs for 1 cent

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Members of a prescription drug program offered by Humana to Medicare beneficiaries will soon be able to obtain hypertension drugs from Walmart for a penny.

    That's right: $0.01.

  • Customer Growth Partners forecasts sluggish 2.8% rise in holiday sales; apparel and accessories strongest categories

    New York -- Holiday sales will reach a record $556.8 billion, a sluggish 2.8% increase from 2011, according to retail consultancy Customer Growth Partners’ 11th annual Holiday Forecast.  

  • Fujitsu, SAP partner to enhance retail POS

    SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Fujitsu has teamed up with its longstanding partner SAP AG to build a new packaged integration component, which will integrate Fujitsu's next-generation retail Point of Service application with the SAP(R) for retail portfolio solutions. The resulting extended capabilities will deliver significant multichannel benefits in terms of customer service, front-office business process improvements and point-of-sale improvements to retailers.

  • CVS/pharmacy expands role of two field executives

    Woonsocket, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy on Thursday expanded the role of two retail field executives as senior VP operations Dennis Palmer, a 37-year retail veteran, announced his retirement.

    Effective Nov. 5, Hanley Wheeler, SVP operations has assumed responsibility of CVS/pharmacy’s Western and Southwestern markets while continuing to have responsibility for the company’s retail operations in its Midwest and Southeast markets.

  • Stop & Shop, parent company Ahold USA donate $2.5M for Hurricane Sandy cleanup and recovery efforts

    PURCHASE, N.Y. — The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC and its parent company Ahold USA have donated $2.5 million to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Sandy cleanup and recovery efforts. The money, which came from the companies and their charitable foundation, Our Family Foundation, will mainly go to the hardest hit areas in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. Stop & Shop has also designated stores in New York and New Jersey as drop-off points for canned and packaged food.
