  • Stripes names senior VP store ops, and senior VP facilities and construction

    Corpus Christie, Texas -- Susser Holdings Corporation announced that its Striples LLL brand has Sid Keswani as senior VP store operations. Keswani brings to Stripes more than 18 years of retail operations experience with Target, most recently as senior VP for the Southeast region of the United States.

    Stripes announced that company veteran Richard Sebastian has taken on the role of senior VP of facilities, construction and will be responsible for the company's maintenance, new store and capital expenditure programs.   

  • Royal Properties brings Heartland Brewery to historic train station

    Port Chester, N.Y. -- Royal Properties has leased 5,630 sq. ft. in the historic Port Chester, N.Y., train station to Heartland Brewery. According to Royal Properties, the lease will run for 20 years and offer a five-year option.

    Heartland will open a food hall and beer garden restaurant in the station, which was constructed in 1890. To be called Port Chester Hall, the restaurant will feature a 3,600-sq.-ft. outdoor area with seating for 85.

  • WindStar takes Papa Murphy’s to Lamar Crossing

    Arlington, Texas -- Papa Murphy’s has leased a 1,340-sq.-ft. space at Lamar Crossing Shopping Center in Arlington, Texas, according to WindStar Properties.

    The Take ‘N’ Bake pizza shop, which prepares fresh pizzas for customers to bake at home, has 1,350 shops in 38 states and ranks as the fifth largest pizza company in the United States.

     

  • Cabela’s to enter New York and Massachusetts

    Sidney, Neb. -- Cabela’s Inc. continues to expand East with plans to open its stores in the states of New York and Massachusetts.

    The hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor merchandise retailer will open an 88,000-sq.-ft. store in the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga, N.Y., in fall 2014, and a similarly sized one in the Boston suburb of Berlin, in spring 2015. The exteriors of both locations will reflect Cabela’s signature log construction, stonework, wood siding, metal roofing and a large glass storefront.

  • Amazon launches marketplace site in India

    New York -- Amazon has launched an online shopping site in India, but, in line with the nation’s rules, it will only be able to service other retailers.

    The e-commerce giant has gone live with an e-commerce marketplace where local retailers can list books and DVDs under Amazon’s banner and use its delivery services to get them to buyers, according to The Financial Times. Amazon will start selling mobile phones and cameras within weeks.

  • Another BRIC in the e-commerce wall

    Chicago -- During a morning keynote session on Wednesday at the Internet Retailer Conference in Chicago, former Vice President and self-described “recovering politician” Al Gore related a couple of interesting facts about how the Internet is shaping modern commerce. First, he stated that when an online network increases in size its value increases by a squared amount, so that for example a network that doubles its number of users quadruples in value.

  • Kate Spade partners with eBay on four interactive storefront pop-ups

    New York -- Kate Spade Saturday, a new division of Kate Spade, has partnered with eBay Inc. to open four pop-up storefronts with shoppable windows across downtown Manhattan.

    The format will consist of a large interactive screen, open for business 24 hours a day. Shoppers can browse and select from among some 30 products and checkout via the screen, with the product delivered in approximately one hour, or scheduled within the week. The pop-ups will be open from  June 8 through July 7.
