  • Survey: Top retailer sites too slow — and getting slower

    Mahwah, N.J. -- The websites for the top 500 U.S. retailers are still too slow and continue to get slower – pages have slowed down 14% since summer 2013, and are 16% slower than fall 2012, according to a study by Radware.

  • Duane Reade launches Facebook photo contest for Halloween

    New York – Duane Reade is running a three week, omnichannel social media marketing campaign to raise awareness of Duane Reade brand hosiery products. The "Boo-tiful Legs" Halloween contest calls for entrants to upload their original photos wearing Duane Reade brand hosiery with their Halloween costume, via a Duane Reade Facebook page FanGate, through Nov. 3.

  • Kmart, Sears gear up for holiday season

    Kmart is kicking off the holiday shopping season with the launch of a new lease-to-own program in time for Black Friday.

    Kmart said it would launch the program through Whynot Leasing and make it available nationwide starting on Nov. 22. Sears, also part of parent company Sears Holdings, also is launching the program, making it available for more than 95 million items via Sears Marketplace, including electronics, home goods, jewelry and tools, as well as major brands and boutique items.

  • Wal-Mart accelerating U.S. small store growth; upping tech investments

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores detailed a number of moves, including opening smaller stores in the United States, cutting back on overseas growth and increasing its investments in technology and e-commerce,  on the occasion of the  company’s 20th annual investor meeting.

  • Study: Luxury shoppers have high expectations

    Denver - Consumers who shop at higher-end department stores and boutiques expect impeccable presentation whether purchases are made in-store or delivered to them, free shipping and returns, and locator services. According to a new study of 1,000 women who earn more than $75,000 annually by luxury retail packing and shipping solution provider Wrap & Send, 65% spend more than $100 at a physical retail store per month and 57% often purchase items in a physical store and have the store ship it to them.

  • Bar Louie opens new location in Arlington, Texas

    Dallas — Bar Louie has opened a new location in south Arlington, Texas. It will be the brand’s second north Texas location.

    The grand opening will host a four-day blowout bash starting Oct.17. In addition to $2 signature martinis, Bar Louie will offer all guests a free appetizer or flatbread just for stopping by.
